He's got a point though. It is a lack of discipline. We seem to be capable of beating all the top teams but carelessly drop points against the minnows.

I can almost sense that we will beat the mancs on Sunday and then Chelsea later but drop points by drawing with the smaller teams.

Or maybe it is simply down to our style of play being more effective against teams that open up to us? Also the stats are skewed because Spurs, Man Utd, City, Arsenal & Chelsea only make up 10 fixtures of a 38 game season. Of course we are likely to drop more points in 28 games vs 10 games.

To say there is a lack of discipline is nonsense because where was this alleged lack of discipline when tonking Stoke, Watford, Hull, Palace, Boro etc. ?

we lost to bournemouth and burnely.. thats it. sunderland was a team that was tired and missing players. Southampton parked a massive bus and van dork was brilliant. we drew with tottenham..

is it tottenham you are irate about?

With just a bit more "saviness" we could have negotiated the Bournemouth and Burnley matches quite easily and saved crucial points. But we shouldn't cry over spilt milk as long as we learn the lessons from these matches. By beating these top sides we have shown that we deserve to be challenging for the title. It is just a matter of consistency.

We're not going to win every time are we?
Better we take our eye off the ball against those well below us and take the points off our rivals.

Bournemouth yes, that was poor game management. Burnley did a job on us and worked perfectly for them.
I would point more towards games like Southampton away where we dominated and didn't score and West Ham at home where we threw the game in the first half.

Your point is valid except for this one thing, bearing in mind Wednesday's performance - in both those games we played quite well but defended naively. Against City and Everton we played dourly, but never gave either of them a sniff (our two most promising victories of the season for that very reason, in my book). Now we are playing dour AND are naive at the back.

Just want Sunday over and a HUGE dose of luck against Soton in the 2nd leg. Hopefully we'll have a full side back for Chelsea at the end of the month.

January, don't be cold, don't be angry with me... <wah>

I wouldn't worry about it. It's all prematch page filling. What happens at the actual match is more relevant. At least Lawro is always on our side:)

On the other hand we also have some brilliant players and more importantly have been a fantastic team under Klopp. We are rightly 5 points ahead of Man Utd despite their 9 game winning run.

People are quick to big up the likes of De Gea, Bailly, Mkhitaryan, Ibrahimovic etc. without giving our players the deserved credit for their performances this season. We have picked up the most points ever for a Liverpool side in the premier league at the half way stage of the season and all some "supporters" are talking about in this thread is our apparent lack of discipline and the few blips in a fantastic season (so far).

What a surprise, you'd think we were the team outside of the top 4 and 5 points behind Man Utd the way people are bigging them up going into this game.

To be fair, earlier in the season when you were blitzing teams the whole agenda was on how united could stop your team and acknowledged you were the favourites (the bookies had you as favourites).

Theres been praise (and rightly so) of clyne, lallana, milner, mane and coutinho earlier in the season and now for both your fullbacks. Also the media love klopp.

Since then though, United have been playing much better, getting points even if with offside goal and the following has happened to your team:

    - Firminos turned to **** (whether thats tactics or his form he's not playing well)
    - You looked abysmal against southampton and drew your last game against Sunderland
    - Henderson is touch and go and Can has looked dreadful in place of hendo
    - Coutinho has been out and is probably going to be ring rusty
    - Mane a key player for you is off at ACON
    - Matip might still be out who everyone considers your best defender.

United are favourites and talked about as favourites. Evidently this is true (even if thats not what the result will be as football is football and anyone can beat anyone on the day) as the bookies have united as favourites especially since they are at home.

    i didn't even mention our players :)

objectively irrespective of how good our sa re the players you mentioned are still fabulous players.. thats the objective view IMO.

and i totally agree LFC have done just fine and should not need to be running down utd so when we beat them we will look even better cos utd are actually good.

    1. firmino... really misses coutinho. 100%
    2. southampton is irrelevant as lucas and can were the issue. it will only be relevant if both are named in 11.
    3. henderson is not touch and go :) take it from me.
    4. Coutinho won't be that off.
    5. Yes mane is missing and klopps decision on him will be crucial on sunday.
    6. Matip is in training. I'd rather him v ibrahimovic than a fully fit klavan.

YOu are right bookies have utd as favorites. Utd must win or title is gone. we can draw and shrug and move on. all the pressure :) is on utd to win.

We've lost 2 games and Chelsea have lost 3. We are behind because of all the draws. :bandit:

Look at the games they've been playing. Obviously they were going to pick more wins up against the likes of Sunderland, Hull, Reading & Boro home...

Their fixtures were generous over Christmas where they had nice gaps between their games. They picked their points up which is all they can do, not knocking it, but lets see how they do in tougher games before talking them up too much. And lets not forget outside of their first XI their squad is extremely weak with very error prone players like Fellaini, Darmian & Rojo in and around the squad, what happens when Europe takes it toll on their team and they have to start deploying these players in the league?

Obviously their easy fixtures have helped them look better as it gives them an easier opportunity to win and come away with the points. However the point is since you last played United, United have been getting better and better, whether thats because players are settling in now, mourinhos methods or just playing **** teams, they are looking better. Judging from these "easy" games though, there are no easy games as you have found from your team.

On the other hand you guys are not sustaining your blistering start and have been on a downward trajectory (to be fair if you maintained that start you'd win the league). Since coutinhos injury you have drawn 3 times, lost once in 9 games (not including your cup games), and you have looked less potent up front (naturally). You've had some big wins but generally your performances have not been as good (far fewer chances) and actually you have had to be more solid in defence. This is before we talk about Hendos injury (MITO assures us he's fine now), Coutinho being rusty and Mane being a massive miss.
