Alcohol free - sounds like he was wearing flip flops! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...azil-day-later-F1-world-champion-claimed.html The British F1 ace, whose £1.5million Pagani Zonda supercar hit three stationary vehicles in the early hours on Tuesday morning, said: ‘It was a result of heavy partying. I am a bit run down.’ A spokesman for Monaco’s Palais de Justice said: ‘Mr Hamilton’s foot slipped on the brake and clutch pedals and his vehicle struck three parked cars. He was tested for alcohol but the result was negative.’
Quick comment re: Hamilton. I think it's a great shame that this technically superb racing driver does not (apparently) recognise the bigger picture – in terms of his own responsibility towards it. There can be little excuse for so many off-track driving antics. One might be acceptable as an 'accident'; after all, none of us are completely immune; but so many in such a short period is difficult to excuse from a World Champion who, whether he likes it or not, is perceived as a role model. Hamilton needs to grow up. This is nothing short of a huge embarrassment for him and the sport he represents. Recently, I reiterated a prediction that Hamilton would eventually receive a knighthood; but in lieu of this, I find myself wondering about a popularised media curse…
Looks like everyone has a bit of end of season apathy. Both championships are over, we pretty much know Merc will win the remaining races etc etc. Time for Bernie to turn the hoses on and make the final few races something to watch.
Not sure whether anybody was injured. I agree with Cosi in relation to incidents like these, but there is a part of me that thinks it has nothing to do with the public.
I tend to agree with the last bit, but Hamilton does lend himself to a lot of public exposure for his own benefit and is happy to take it (lots of PR/sponsorship/events etc etc), therefore he will be under scrutiny generally for what he does off the racetrack. A Rosberg or Vettel do not have the same 'showbiz/tabloid;' lifestyle away from the circuit so no one tends to follow them.
20 mins into watching Sky. We are still talking about a damn S-duct and missed Verstappen and Vettel spin.
Great.. .7 of second to the next best car.... Here's to more decent racing in the middle of the pack! The Mercs, reliability pending will most likely drive off.. again.. in to the distance!
Can't really believe how unreliable McHonda is at this stage of the season. I always thought you could redesign parts that were causing failures, so no tokens needed to implement reliability fixes. I don't think Honda have ever said they are after performance over reliability so it's just terrible to see so many failures.
