He wants a balanced team, therefore he wants two fast attacking wide forwards with a fast attacking striker, if you look at the way he has tried to balance the midfield and defence you will appreciate the way he is trying to build the team.

He wants to play 433 <ok>

“Manchester United always have to pay,” Van Gaal said. “We have to pay for all the players a certain amount, and what have Real Madrid offered? We are asking money and they have to pay the money. In the last few years Manchester United has paid a lot of money and we never received a lot of money for our players.”

    ??

Don't do much betting but if I did would never bet on somebody else's judgement or opinion.

  7. He might have balance left to right but not front to back. Again, not something I'd overly disagree with since I think scoring goals is more important than keeping them out.

Oh **** the #meltdown got even worse:

“I am the victim, the fellow players are the victims, the club is the victim and that is why the transfer period has to change,” he said. “He is the best goalkeeper we have had the last three years and in two years he was nominated by the fans as the best player at the club. Do you think the trainer-coach wants him to leave? I don’t think so.”

  9. Tobes said De Gea would leave, UIR said he wouldn't. Tobes offered him a wager, UIR shat it. You're now arguing the same (or at least similar) point. I doubt Tobes will offer the bet to you though, I think he was doing it because he thinks UIR is a tool :)

    Tobes The Grinch likes this.
  10. That would suggest that LVG thinks De Gea is going to leave once Real offer what he wants (or near as)

Quite right too, we have let players go for peanuts because they weren't part of our plans, de Gea obviously is and so Madrid will have to pay the asking price if they want him.

I think van Gaal knows what he wants for sure but I am wondering what he is at and how the interactions are working.

433..... Maybe. ... 2 defensive players in front of the back 4 for sure. He is a guy who wants 0 on the score sheet first then will see what he can do.

He's not adverse to tossing it long obviously so for me it's mostly about work rate and results and he doesn't much care who he hurts or how he gets them.

Funnily enough he seems to think he can drag guys out of treatment and they will be fine as well so I am wondering what will occur this season

And you have to take what you can get by 2nd September.

It's just a game of get the best deal on both sides.

What United want would be nearer the truth <ok>

From de Gea's point, I think if he was sure he wanted to leave it would have happened two months ago. There is still a lot of uncertainty there.

  16. I hope you do stand your ground as I don't like seeing the two Spanish clubs bullying folks to get their own way (although its slightly pleasant when its you guys :) ). However, De Gea also only has one year left so you're not exactly in a position to barter either. You may well have a asking price and refuse to sell if its not met but De Gea doesn't have to sign a new deal either so could walk for free next year.

Its quite a similar position to what we had with Suarez when he wanted to go to Arsenal except Suarez had two years left at the time.

IMO, De Gea either goes now or he stays and signs a new deal with a release clause in meaning he goes next summer.

The history of these things is the Spanish don't seem to care when... mascherano happened really late as did bale.

The stories we are hearing about 30mil fees are just a joke. 12 months left you don't get world records.

And frankly those peddling that stuff made themselves look thick.

  18. Suarez, C.Ronaldo, Bale, Modric, Fabregas, Henry, etc. They all made it clear they wanted to move on but none of them moved quickly, each of those deals took time. Granted, not as much time or as late in the day as this one.

All the journos know he's gone. Van Gaal's #meltdown proves its over. De Gea has been professional in terms of not speaking publicly but there is zero relationship left with Man Utd.

You did quite well up to this point, we were screaming for certain players to be put back in the team last season only for LvG to say they did not have "match rhythme" as in "not match fit". He is not Brendan who will push players into service whilst still injured.
