By targeting big names your are buying quality but yes, you risk being more like the Real's and Man City's with eleven individuals on the pitch rather than building a team.

Go back to when Fergie was in charge towards the end of his reign and there were often arguments about who had the best group of players and who had the best team. You guys rarely came out on top in the former but you often did in the latter. You've moved away from that atm.

Don't get me wrong, being able to buy top quality players is great and something I'd have preferred us to do in the summer of 2014 after gaining CL football.

It's not the fact they're big names, it's more the difference between actually targeting a player or reacting to one that becomes available. If we'd targeted Pedro and gone after him then it shows organisation. If he suddenly comes available and we chase after him then that's different. Doing it as a one off is fair enough but doing it over and over again is where I question it.

We hardly ever bought a worldie when Fergie was there. Think Rio was the last one.

I agree its not about the name, what I meant was Fergie always built a team whereas LVG doesn't seem to know how he wants to play. That means he doesn't look like he is building anything, he's just collecting players he likes and chucking them together
