  2. That's the only reasoning I can think of. Not site why people would want his Bayern team to lose to Juve though

Not sure he is hated, most people think he gets far too much praise without ever having had to prove himself. He could be great at City and take the league by storm which would go a long way to enhancing his reputation, but at the moment he has only ever spent a short time at teams already at the top, never had to build/re-build a team and get them to the top.

  5. Not if Man City manage to win the CL this season. That would be a right ****ter for him lol

I think he gets now praise than he deserves but this was proper hatred. Twitter, Facebook, phone calls, etc

You could argue he rebuilt that Barca team - they were struggling towards the end of Rijkaard's tenure and turned them into arguably the best club side in history.

You could but who did the signings?

Basques as vital but then if you've xavi Iniesta and messi you should win.

At city he's got aguero and de Bruyne and then silva legs don't look really up to it right now and sterling is sterling.

He promoted a lot of the youth players, and developed a system which got the best out of them. He worked with these youth players at Barca B so he played a big part in their development for the first team.

I do agree - I think the praise is a little OTT but he's a quality manager.

yes as in busquets who i think he literally gave one game to before getting top job and immediatley picked him.

yes he's a quality manager but the abuse that the current barca incubant gets is ridiculous while guardiola is fawned over.

the reality is guardiloa has made bayern worse not better...

so IMO his big test is coming.

  10. You could also argue the current Barca team is better. Does that make the current Barca manager better than Guardiola?

I don't think this current team is better - but the front 3 certainly are.

I think the fact about barca is:

    1. full backs are good. who bought them? barca technicla staff still in place or guardiola? colloquially guardiola specifically asked for alves
    2. keepers are no worse. valves was not great imo anyway but good enough
    3. CBs? who bought pique back? guardiola had puyol anyway... mascherano is his
    4. CMs.. iniesta and busquets still there. rakitic is a recent buy and class... is midfield worse... no not really TBH

so are they better or worse after 3 coaches.. they are as good as ever. villa messi and pedro were great.

If all garica gets credit for is letting them at it then its under rating him managing those 3 egos upfront and the continuing work done by barca set up.

Guardiola has a similar philosophy to xavi and busquets who will both be future barca managers.. they are thinkers about football and obsessive.

Guardiola however has a big ego off it and he's actually done badly at bayern and made them worse... and now he's headed to a city side with some talent but an awful midfield and a terribe central defence.

he's a lot of work to do just to make an actual team out of them.

    CL draw

    Wolfsburg v Real
    Munich v Benfica
    Barca v Atletico
    PSG v City

cant see past a semi of real, Munich, Barca and Psg.

City really needed Wolfsburg or Benfica to progress.

Such a pointless round of fixtures

  16. Agree with that.

If Kompany was fit I'd say that was a interesting game. Without Kompany I think PSG will be too good for them.

    Who can Liverpool face?
The other round of 16 ties were completed tonight. And with no seeding, it's a completely free draw.

That leaves Liverpool's possible opponents as being:

    Athletic Bilbao

    Villarreal

    Borussia Dortmund

    Sparta Prague

    Shakhtar Donetsk

    Braga

    Sevilla

Ill take anybody tbh but if we can avoid perhaps dortmund and sevilla then great, if not id rather dortmund of the two.

    Draws at noon

  18. Not too fussed, happy to play any of them.

I'd love us to face Dortmund in the final but obviously we have to get there first.

    interesting draw.

dodgy in fact that real, barca, bayern and PSG all are kept apart.

I think city have still a small chance of progress. PSg are very good but not in the other 3's class.

dolly of a draw for real.

Huge game between atletico and barca.... thats really the one to wathc for a true battle of styles and a very strong ref is needed

Think Dortmund would be the worst away fixture for us. Would rather play them on neutral ground (final). But knowing us, we'd probs get knocked out by Basel in the QF. <ok>
