Why are you comparing your wage bill to bigger clubs' wage bills at all, without comparing revenue?

Where is this £6.5m coming from? If it's from Moshiri's investment then that's £6.5m not being spent on a new player or stadium development.

Or are you expecting an Abramovic-style unlimited bankroll once he's bypassed the PL ownership tests and is able to take over completely?

 

@Tobes if it's costing you £6.5m a piss, then you have about 15 pisses until Moshiri's £100m has run dry

So how is this inflated wage bill being funded at the same time as new transfers and stadium development?

The incremental TV revenue this season is £30m a year for a start off.....so that's covered the £16m wage increase and left change....off the back of the last TV deal we already had shown that we had enough flex to spend £25-30m a year in fees...

Before touching any incremental cash that Moshiri makes available....

So how much is this incremental money Moshiri is going to make available? £10m a year? 100m a year? #ballpark

 

Theoretically, you could pay him 500k a week if you wanted to... I was being realistic and saying that even with this new investment and the extra tv money, you still wouldn't be match what City/Chelsea/United would be willing to pay him. Ergo, your/Martinez original point that this new money should stop them leaving for financial reasons isn't really true.

From Martinez comments yesterday and the press reports on the subject, it's apparent that he's made it clear that there'll be investment in the playing squad at a level that exceeds what we could have ordinarily afforded. So by definition that means he's putting cash in.

Same as he's going to for the stadium - or a portion of it.

 

So they'd pay him more than £500k a week now then.....

I don't doubt he's putting cash in, he's already bought your club at 50% discount so I'd expect at least £200m over the next few seasons.

From what people are saying though it looks like at least 10% of that (per year) is going to be sucked up instantly by paying the players you already have more money for the same job.

 

The fact that Kenwright has chosen him over the other 2 interested parties - and has taken what appears to be a low price, tells me his offer included the largest capital injection proposal. With the stadium being the key piece.

I think his staying on (and the 49.9% initial sale) is partly to do with ensuring that he makes good on the promise.....

No Blue is expecting a huge City type spending spree, but I'm certain that this guy will put us at a level where we can compete with those clubs outside of the oil clubs and United, on more of a level playing field.

Kind of intrigued to see how he does, such a talented youngster but just not lived up to it properly.

Also think that Bertrand for Chelsea looks a player. Had a few sub appearances and scored a few goals

 

Does Bertrand not play for Southampton? I know he was on loan there last season, did he make the move permanent in the summer or did he go back to the Chavs?
