I actually think the messi of the last few years has slowed down. Hes had to be more intellligent in his play because hes lost that blistering top speed and acceleration he used to have prior to jis hamstring injury.

Before he could dribble past everyone whereas now i dont expect that everytime he gets the ball

Messi has never been the quickest player in terms of sprints and stuff, he's got incredibly quick feet and a fast brain though

 

Neymar did very little tbh. And you've obv never read anything I've posted about La Liga before. I think there's a lot of depth in quality and the way they play the game is admired by a football purist like me. But however you cut it, the pressure and standard of the Champions League knockout stage against a tougher opponent like Arsenal, was a better test of them tonight.

I'm not sure what you're getting at with the first question? It's not just about the front 3 is it. The whole of the Barcelona team, particularly Rakitic who I think is criminally underrated in this Barca side, are equally important.

Agree with that, I'd go further and say that growing up in that culture and ethos at Barcelona, with that core of players and playing style has helped him to become the player he has and achieve the success he has. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that, it would be interesting to see what would have happened if he'd had the career Ronaldo did, and Ronaldo had, had the career Messi did. I doubt either would have been as good as the other has in their respective careers tbh, but that's a different debate.

I did say the current Barca side without Messi, Messi would then be in opposition in a weaker side with less skilful players.
My point was in answer to you saying the opposition's lesser ability dictates Suarez/Neymar quality, so thereby Messi would have less goals the the other two in an average team, they all need eachother(or players of a similar quality) to be the force they are now.

Also it's worth noting that Suarez has shone against better opposition than Arsenal since his arrival at Barca, he had a rare off night as his stats clearly show.

Messi has been out injured this season and last season - and Suarez and Neymar both coped well without him.
