yes they are.. i think pelligrini has seen the writing on the wall and has given up a bit personally. they've bench much better under him before.

I think if they defended properly.... and they are woeful at it... they'd win this league in a canter.

oh the games are a foot now.... if anchelotti turns up in london this will be big.

I felt the betryal comment after leicester did let something slip. I felt that was out of character for a guy supposedly so loved by players.

He must have known his head was on the block.

They'd hung him out to dry mate. There was players on that pitch on Monday who were tanking, as they wanted rid of him.

He'd lost a segment of that dressing room, and they ensured his demise.

    Poisonous ****ers.

Still a bit surprised, didn't think they'd get rid, especially after giving him a new contract in the summer.

Pep announces he's leaving Bayern at the end of the season and now Mourinho gone.... I can see an interim coming in until Pep takes over

Thought he was managing someone already atm?

Would make sense for them to then get Pep in the summer.

I think its mot so much heritage as ranking... simply put in prior years city have been ranks 3 or 4 in thier CL groups and end up with harder CL last 16 games or not getting out of group.

I remember wneger taking 5 years to get out of groups at first in his early years.... they were laughed at constantly.

But.. if you are seeded with the top teams and you finish 2nd in your group you end up getting tonking in last 16... if you are3rd seed the systems should be saying you have to over achieve to get 2nd.

Man city have got now to 14th in the overall ranking which says a 2nd seed.. ergo its expected for them to progress.

the issue then is next round... like arsneal.. the big boys take you apart.

If gus Hiddink is in there are two possibilities.

    1. guardiola in summer
    2. someone else in summer

Option 1 will be the talk of the town.

This is going to be very interesting

Klopp, Guardiola at City, potentially Simeone st Chelsea and Bielsea at Swansea.

The PL may very well get back to being the best!

Think your humour's as unsubtle as your football, Tony. Until the last ten minutes, when Liverpool went all out attack, you had three set-pieces, scored from two and had one (rightly) disallowed - that you whigned about more than the over-the-top tackle that put Lovren out for a month. Good luck to you though, that's the way you play (away from home, anyway) and I'd set my team up to take advantage of Liverpool's undoubted weakness at set pieces if I were in your position, but don't re-write history to pretend that your game plan was anything but defend robustly - and on the very edges of the game's rules - and hit on set-pieces.

You're becoming the heir to Allardyce in your one-eyed moaning as well as your style of play.

It's not even His style of play that annoys me. It's his snide tactics. Horrible man who condones reckless tackling and stamping.

Yes you are right it is more than just ultra defensive like van Gaal. Even Mourinho at his worst with Pepe etc has not been as bad and Mr pulis thugs. Funny how Huth ended up where he did eh?

This is it, there is always talk about how its now a non contact sport etc and how we miss the physical element of the game but it was always within the context of the rules of the game, nobody has ever wanted to see those ****house tactics. Most teams have one or two players that will try it now and again but pullis gets his team's to play that way. Costa would fit in well under pullis.
