Would rather avoid promoted sides in the first couple of games when they could have momentum.

Right, like we had when we got promoted. Oh wait, we had the better sides and got hammered. Don't buy that momentum bollocks at all.
I'm with you mate, I honestly can't be doing with all the endless transfer rumours, most of which never come to anything! I really miss the days when nobody knew anything until the player was actually signed, the classic example being Kevin Keegan. At least after tomorrow we'll have some real, concrete matches to look forward to!Cheers Chilco

That's 1 example... Can't be assed to look but I'm sure there's plenty examples of promoted sides starting brightly, Blackpool is one I can think of off the top of my head. I think playing promoted side on opening day is dangerous territory, personally I'd rather get one of the hardest games out of the way early, or play a midtable side at home.
Did you see what happened when we got a good start to the season? We were in the top 4 until February! Promotes sides will generally take time to adapt to the PL which is why we want them early.
Yeah and then what happened when we played all the big sides around xmas when injuries started to hit?
