As things Stand, following our point to game ratio of: 1.6 Points
We are due to finish our 38th game with: 61 Points

Due to the slow start in block 1 we will need to average 8.3 Point per block if we are aiming for say 75 points. That's not to say we can't recover following the fixtures in the next block:

Our next block may not be an easy one to maximize with Chelsea in full form; however I can see no reason why we should not aim to get 9 points (against the likes of Hull, Newcastle and Palace).

What the **** is this "block of four" crap? for a start it doesn`t fit into 38 games, then the games aren`t pulled out h,a,h,a,h,a, etc, then you don`t get 1xhard,1xeasy and 2xmedium teams per "block". It is bullshit,

It helps us put things in perspective. For example I made a statement that given the teams in the current block there is no reason why we can't get 9/12 points at least (and that's before discounting the Chelsea game). If we don't achieve that we are able to see where we went wrong and did not show winning form.

Also, You may or may not agree (but I certainly believe) that form in football lingers. By this I mean when we play badly our performance sort of hovers for a while, with the team unable to hit the highs of what they are truly capable of. Likewise when the team is performing well, points come more naturally our way. The block of 4 is in my opinion a good way to look at this variable; looking back at the table later on in the season it allows us to spot what went wrong and what worked.

In regards your comment about fluctuations in teams we play, I would be enclined to agree that if a block had Chelsea, City, Everton and Arsenal inside it may harder to score a higher number of points in the block. My counter to that is two fold:
    - for one if we want to win the title we should be looking to score points against everyone.
    - Secondly the blocks indicate form and if we played big teams each week our point tally as a result may drop, In this case the table above would actualy contribute: I'm sure you can make a correlation between the difficulty of the opposition and points we score? The added benefit is it could indicate a drop in form (if we lost 4 on the bounce, this may impact how we play in the block after).

Admittedly the statistics and trends That are offered with the table in regards to "the points we are due to Finish on" are varied on who we have played prior to this; but these are variables that are also used in the graphs above. These graphs have have a secondary purpose to track our progress fixture by fixture taking to account the result last season. So I think it is fair to say everything has meaning and your query has already been answered. I would appreciate any feedback though if you know of any improvements that could be made though (with minimum effort)

The "solved" part is equally serious as the part where it is a "crisis" in the first place <ok>

As things Stand, following our point to game ratio of: 1.55 Points
We are due to finish our 38th game with: 59 Points

Not a good result.. I still maintain that there was 9 points up for grabs in this block: that approximation may look like it is slipping away from us at the moment. Realistically you would say there should be nothing stopping us scoring 7 points subject to two wins out of three (subject to the team performing and no disrespect to Newcastle or Palace). Ideally I would like us to turn this in to a 10 point block, but I say that with some optimism: Let's see if we can get anything out of the Chelsea game!

The plus side: The table indicates slow progression in regards to transforming our loses into draws, it may be too soon to fully justify this though. Lets see how things shake up come the end of the block.

Not knocking it MITO, just seams like hard work. I can look at Uniteds results and tell you that 13 points out of 27 will leave us with around 58 points if we keep that kind of form up <ok>

Ah, but can you go back to the corresponding fixtures and work out where it went wrong when we all look back at the end of the season? XD. And when we play West Brom in April: How will you find out how the game worked out for us when we were at home in early October?

Sorry for being a prat; I do see your point. But in my opinion a list provided with out results is useful in itself; and that is before the analysis the Block format provides (as explained in my earlier post :emoticon-0103-cool:)

That takes 1 minute. How are you going to fill the other 23 hours 59 minutes in the day?

  16. Every team as a bad day at the office, the blocks are more about putting a bad run of games into perspective.

But teams improve and get worse as the season goes by. Do you expect Southampton to stay in second all season, if you played them next week and they beat you would you expect the same result in the return fixture in May, if the result was reversed would it tell if you had improved or they had dropped off?
