i found out when lambert missed his pen for rochdale. this is a bit embarrassing! it was against us 29th april 2006 rochdale 2 rovers 0. he also scored a pen in that game as well. paragraph 6 in this link http://www.rochdaleonline.co.uk/new...c-news/11110/home-win-secures-safety-for-dale
Thanks Capt Jack, I think that covers it. Rickie has missed two in his entire penalty taking career. Unless he's taken somewhere around 96 penalties, he's still short of Matty's 47/48. percentage wise. Nevertheless, he's about as good as it gets. All we're really short of is how many Rickie has taken, and then we can confidently edit his career data in Wikipedia. Let's face it, that kind of record needs recording. Of course, Ex-Saint James Beattie can boast an absolute 100% record I believe, but took several less.
now i have the date when he missed that pen 29th april, easy research on rochdales games, he didnt actually take another pen for rochdale after that miss because he only played 5 more games for rochdale before he then transferred to rovers. so his last pen for rochdale was missed! meaning the stat 47/49 is correct. but as he scored a pen as well in the same game he missed, tecnically you could say 48/50. hope this helps guys
Another great find, and a really good read. Almost makes me wish I'd taken more notice of the lower leagues back then. Already Rickie was running the show. He was obviously really finding his professional feet with Rochdale, and from then on just progressed.
its funny that the 2 he has missed in his entire career involves rovers, missed 1 against and missed 1 for here is some more stats which are correct... he didnt take any pens for macclesfield or blackpool. stockport scored 6 from 6 pens rochdale scored 5 from 6 pens rovers scored 13 from 14 pens saints scored 34 from 34 pens total: scored 58 pens out of 60. whats the bets england is in another pen shoot out and he misses with the worse kick ever
That seems definitive to me, because I've no doubt you've made an effort to get the data. So we are saying 58/60. As soon as I can remember my Wikipedia editor password, that gets worked into the stats. Cheers Capt JS. Promote yourself to Admiral. EDIT: Wikipedia updated: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rickie_Lambert
Great stuff Cap'n Jack, those are very impressive stats and certainly cement Rickie's status as currently the best spot kick taker in England, if not the world. As you say, how funny that the only two he has ever missed involved the Gas. Thanks for all your hard work, and good luck next season, hope you can get back in the Football League soon. Bristol is too big a City to only have one club in the Leagues. Oh, and Goodnight Irene.
cheers guys, there are many places which shows he has only missed 2 in his whole career and we now know those 2 games. for rochdale vs rovers and for rovers vs leicester. the ones he has scored however, just so you know where i got the all the stats from so you can see for youself if you wished, i got it from this site... http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=16995&season_id=136 1) scroll down slightly just beneath his career stats and you can see a drop down menu where it lists all the seasons where he was actually involved in 1st team games. 2) select any season you wish. 3) then a list of games from that season will appear and it will only list the games he was involved in from that season. 4) next to the games he was involved in, it shows the goals where he has scored. therefore your only interested in those games of course. 5) on the line where he has scores, between the fixture date and the result you will see a green 'i' info sign. click on that. 6) then a little box appears showing what minute he scored in said game and obviously if it shows 'pen' next to it then that goal was a pen. 7) just go into each season, find the goals, then check the info if the goals were pens or not. 8) it doesnt show missed pens but we know the 2 he missed anyway after i checked each season, the stats i put up last night, 58 of his goals were pens, so missing 2 as well = 58/60. it didnt take long as i didnt check any saints games as you know that stat already 34/34. i double checked the rovers and previous clubs and got the 58/60. feel free to double check of course, but at least you can see where i got the info from anyway, send us some good youths please that are hungry to play and impress. you have a good record of this and man dont we need some hungry talented players to get us back into the football league!
Bloody cheek. Only reason why I left it without citation was because it was so bloody late. I'll see if CJS has amended it. EDIT: Well, NOW it's changed. And backed up by citation, courtesy from Captain Jack Sparrow from The Gas forum. Cheers mate. Welcome back any time. And I've saved it this time on my own computer, should anyone go back and change it back..!
Oh you are going to make a great journo DTLW ... you dig up an old quote of yours where you are nearly right
