Yeah you can still see some understeer in that video with the McLaren. Looks still to be slightly heavy but still pretty solid IMO. The Ferrari though in that video looked like it was having major understeer going into turn 10, then a slight rear twitch of wheel spin through turn 11.
It's nice to see people are excited that the W04 is top of the times, but you're talking to a guy who actually watched Mercedes since 2010. Mercedes like going for the top times in testing, they do it every year! Yeah seeing Nico and Lewis top of the times are nice, but I would prefer a 1-2 lockout at Australia than a testing glory run to bring in more sponsors.
Sebastian Vettel is confident that the times will improve even during the week. He continued today the fourth fastest time behind rival Fernando Alonso. Vettel: "We know that every day more rubber on the track will be laid, so the first day was probably the worst. Today we saw that the tires eroded very quickly and not hold out so long. I think the same is for everyone, but this is definitely a good circuit to know if you have a good car or not. " On the speed of the car, he said: "It is difficult to assess what we have done in comparison with the rest of the quantity of gasoline. because we are not doing, because we have plenty of things to do in our own garage. I still have hard push and I like that. I think we're in good shape today. I'm pretty happy with the car and with the balance and certainly happier than this time last year. "
It's great they're enthusiastic I'll give them that but I've seen Nico and Schumacher get top times (a lot) at testing in the past and it never really amounted to anything serious come the first race when push comes to shuve. Ok last season was a pretty good start for Mercedes anyway, but it's not uncommon to know that Mercedes try harder than 90% of the other teams on the grid to get the top time so they get the "little glory" in the papers. Lotus, Force India and Williams try to do it as well if they get the chance. Where as the top 3 teams always keep quiet unless they have some sort of monster on track! which they know wont be beaten.
On the final day at Jerez Ferrari had a huge hole under the nose. Today they had the same hole on the car. Scarbs says "contrary to much rumouring the slot is a relatively simple aerodynamic solution to improve the air flow under the raised section of chassis.". He talks about it here. please log in to view this image He says it's the same as what RB7 had, but for me the hole is just a bit too big to be only improving the airflow. please log in to view this image http://twitpic.com/c556ln Any ideas on where the air might be going?
Unlike Schumacher and Vettel fans, who both accepting and objective? Nothing against Schumacher or Vettel fans though.
I find it rather hilarious that Caterham's exhaust might be banned and they're already the slowest of all the teams...
Anyway... where are all these Hamilton fans getting over-enthusiastic? If you wanna have a pop at them, do it on whatever site they're mouthing of on. Sick of the generalizations that get kicked about...
What's up Bhaji, all I am saying is most Mercedes fans are now Hamilton fans if a bit exaggerated, that are enthusiastic about what is to come. I never said anything negative about them. They are just unsure about season ahead, and would see being at the top of the time sheets as something of a comfort. If not hopefully occurring in the season as well. Chill. No pop at them. On my part, I think denial was the wrong word.
Lines like 99% of Hamilton fans being in denial... I'd say most of us are realistic but hopeful. Generalization of a group of fans drives me mad.
Don't worry I know how it feels. I had it for three years, nothing was said then. (Schumacher fans in denial). Edit: This has been blown well out of proportion. It could either have been taken as a joke (which it didn't), or it turned sour. Lines like that have been said all the time on this forum, stop acting like it is the anti-christ of all quotations. 1) Mercedes' fan-base will have grown vastly and probably made up of a majority of Hamilton fans. (As it was Schumacher fans) 2) They are probably (unsure/in denial) about the season ahead, and the fortunes in it. --> Do not interpret denial as a bad word. Then you can see I am not trying to offend you. --> I have also experienced being generalised, it didn't kill me. --> I am entitled to my own opinion at the end of the day.
Ted Kravitz report: http://www1.skysports.com/formula1/video/12870/8510952 Seb was running on heavy fuel all day. Rosberg says Mercedes 1 second quicker than last year, but reliability problems are an issue and bouncing off the limiter on the straight. Lewis is an Arsenal fan Nico as a Bayern fan Ferrari looking good.
lol thoughts going through his head with Slater at the end: "****ing idiot." What a dumb question to ask
Wow! you can actually see Alonso recalling in his head how bad he thought the car was last year that he actually puts his whole hand to his head like you would when you are depressed or something! He was very, very irritated by the start as he quickly scratches his chin vigorously. please log in to view this image Also a fair few sighs of relief from him as well which are interesting, seems to feel this is his year for his 3rd and that reliability looks to be the only concern for them at the moment. Seemed a bit wary of the McLaren and IRBR though, looks like he is just waiting for them to show their hand and see how they all compare etc.
I don't think you intended to offend me personally... I think that when referencing Hamilton fans, it has become habit to assume we're a collective bunch of idiots by some.
