Only 60 to 70% braking efficiency
The leak occurred on the right rear. As Hamilton at 280 km / h hit the brakes, he felt only forward a delay. Behind the braking action was reduced by the pressure drop to 60 to 70 percent. Characterized the car could Hamilton nevertheless still slow enough that the damage sustained by the impact in the borders. Nose, front wing, the front left and front runner of the subsoil were affected.

The repair of the parts is not a problem. This could be done in three hours. Problem is the brake line. The engineers have come up with a new solution. Although the second day of testing was completed in a short time, consoles himself co-owner Toto Wolff. "Lewis drove in his first lap with new tires from the medium as a time of 1.19,5 minutes. Least we now know that our car is competitive."

    Bonus at least...

Can see Costa getting fired already.

13:01 Mercedes will sit out the rest of the second day. Jon Noble has confirmed the team needs to halt for repairs to the hydraulics and the rest of the car.

As Silver said: W02 makes a return.

That wont go in a couple of days you'll see, the W02 took until halfway into the second test to run properly after a major change.

#f1 Glum looks at Ferrari. Maybe Massa did some damage when spinning and bumping over the kerb going backwards. Mrs J pics on site later.

    Another game? Sounds good!

Toto Wolff, the Mercedes Sky Sports Executive Director, tells Sky Sports News:

"There is quite a lot of work to do but we want to do it properly so this is why we are not stressing ourselves to get it done this afternoon. We will do things properly and get out tomorrow morning

"The first indication is that the car looks good and the feedback was positive."

Suprised that Wolf is discussing this and not Brawn? On the plus side for both Merc & Lewis fans they seem to think the car is quick!

Current fastest time of 1:18.8 compared to 1:19.5 of Hamiltons doesn't look too bad
The car may have some speed in it afterall.. just need to stop it from catching fire and, oh and.. I don't know, get the brakes working, would be handy on somethig that can go up to 210mph+

The W02 was also pretty quick when it worked but it was discovered to be a massive tyre chewer, though it was also pretty quick in qualifying. After 4-5 laps the car would just go backwards, you only need to see Monaco and Turkey 2011 to see that happening.

Toto is probably doing all the media duties to leave Brawn undisturbed as team principle and focus 100% on the team and car.

Bit embarrasing for Merc but its best to happen now than later, laptimes were looking good at the time.

Lotus looking strong, least with Romain on pole he cant crash at the start...or can he

Seb got the title in the bag, since Romain will be ahead of both IRBR's it's McLarens problem then. The odds are that Romain will take out both McLarens in at least half of the season <laugh> safest place on the grid is behind Romain.

Long way to go before the season starts. Bit early to start over analyzing or coming to any conclusions yet.

This testing... no points given for being fastest and no need for anybody to try to BS to the top of the timesheet. :)
