02 Aug 2013 00:00:41 There are two strikers that bristol city are looking at to replace Steven Davies one has been well publicised the other not! First is billy sharp who is sod first choice Second choice is nahki wells this depends on whether sharp deal has been sorted by Saturday if not then city will hold talks with the player after the game on Saturday! COYR Major Can't see us signing Wells after all he turned down Burnley I think to stay at Bradford so I can't see him joining us, but would be a very good signing. As for sharp again I can't see it but would be good if sod can pull it off. If SOD gets Sharpe I will pull him off! 02 Aug 2013 07:38:14 And where are Bristol going to get £2m+ for Wells The sale of adomah to Middlesbrough Well considering we are about to sell adomah and have already sold Davies I'm fairly sure we have enough funds to pay for one of them also considering our owner is worth around 1billion and is 974 richest in Forbes list I don't think we are short of a bob or two! Major Adomahs only going for 1m 2M + for Wells, give over! He's had one good season at league 2 level!
This is whats ridiculous. Swansea paid 2 million for Michu. We've selling Adomah for 1 million who is proven at Championship and could make the step up to the prem. Yet Bradford rate a striker who has only played at league 2 level and had 1 good season at 2 million? Stupid. He's worth about 600k-800k if that
Please don't spend that kind of money on this player because if you want to lose the plot then that's a very good way.
P.S. to Shiny. When you get approved for a move to Australia do you get a free philosophy degree? Talking about your views on travel!
Gary Madine! He is getting some real hate at Sheffield Wednesday. SOD should look at bringing him in. Was great at this level 2011/2012 season. Got about 25 goals I think. Have a gander sean!
Couldn't make the step up from league 1 to the championship. Don't really think it would be a risk signing him. We got the same reports regarding Wagstaff and so far so good from him. A striker needs to be brought in this week. Looking at our bench yesterday it was staring us in the face. Our starting 11 looks good then you go to the bench and it looks weak in the striker department. Taylor is never going to score us goals and im not sure where this holds play up well comes from either as I hardly see him do that well. Harewood would be the better option of the 2 along with another Baldock. Shame we lost Davies. He scored for Blackpool yesterday too.
Would depend on what they wanted for him and the wages also does he think he can't hack it at championship level? Also if we want to progress whoever we get we want someone who either has done it at Championship level or looks like they might.
Billy Sharp is now reported to be definitely leaving Southampton soon. Wonder where he will be going?
1526: LATEST TRANSFER GOSSIP Billy Sharp may leave Southampton in the next few weeks, the striker's agent tells the Press Association. The 27-year-old former Sheffield United striker, who was loaned to Nottingham Forest last season, was overlooked for the club's pre-season trips to Spain and Austria. "He wants to play football, he doesn't just want to sit out the last two years of his contract," said James Featherstone. "But if he doesn't get an opportunity at Southampton and it is getting close to transfer deadline day at the end of August, or when the loan window opens back up a couple of weeks after, we will have to start making a decision about what is best for Billy
We would love you here Billy you would become a hero, if you fired us back up at the first attempt,SOD wants you,the fans want you,you know it makes sense.
I was under the impression that he only had just over 12 months left on his contract from what Southampton said before
06 Aug 2013 17:27:33 Anthony Malbon of Kidderminster will sign for Bristol City for £100,000. 21 year old Malbon scored 19 times last season. 06 Aug 2013 15:47:31 Expect Dean Cox and Jay Simpson to be Bristol City players by the end of the week. 06 Aug 2013 15:45:39 With Albert Adomah signing for Middlesborough, Bristol City will try to sign Leyton Orients Dean Cox
I've said it before and it has been an issue in the past from lots of posters about us signing lower division players rather than going for the higher level experienced variety. Does SOD have the nous to mould these players ion to the kind of committed players we so desperately need? Just a question and not a criticism.
Flint and Pack were from divisions lower than us last season. Sean has a history of bringing young players through, also finding the odd overlooked nugget from non league as well so I would have to say that I think he knows how to blend youngsters into a team come to that we are already looking more of a team now than we did last season and that's after what 7 weeks inc preseason yes the team and individuals are going to make mistakes youngsters do it's all part of growing and maturing, we need another striker that can make goals for himself and others because sooner or later teams are going to triple mark JET to try an nullify him which will leave loads of space for others to use to create and score goals.
In my opinion Mike, the biggest plus for signing young emerging players from one or two leagues below us and also from Premiership youth squads, is that they are usually hungry to prove themselves at the higher level and and are still young and keen enough to want to make it a good career move. Some will fail, some will take longer than we really want to adjust and they will all make mistakes along the way. But I believe we wiill get better value for money, fees and salaries, than those aged 27 to 32 years who are already "proven" at our level. Yes they know the ropes but do they still have the desire and passion that we need. I honestly feel that I can give you two prime examples of this type; firstly Steve Davies, who has lots of skill but always appeared lethargic to me and a certain left sided centre back who has spent the last three seasons living on past performances.
Well responded cidered and I take your comments to heart and yes it would be nice to finally have a bunch of players on board who have something to prove. Look at how much money we wasted on players who barely committed themselves to getting out of bed yet alone playing for the shirt. Hearing some of them saying they were leaving because they felt they deserved Championship Football made me scream, when they already had it but were not prepared to fight to retain that status, so good riddance to them and welcome to the new blood. Onwards and upwards cidered!
