this is the start i was dreading and it is looking like we will be playing catch up like qpr and reading did right from the off. If jinx selects the players we want then we have had it and we will struggle all season....I knew this would happen when jinx scuppered laudrups targets for his own cheaper option ...its sods law we would get the worst start of fixtures possible....Its going to be a long hard season ahead im afraid to say....
It might not be the worst start though Dai. Usually the bigger teams take a few games to get going, and last season we hit the ground running, not to mention that when it came to playing the bigger teams, the results took care of themselves. Also on a positive note, our run in is much more generous than the run in we had this season.
If the Cardiff fans are not worried about their first game then they are fools, should West Ham put three goals past them then they are in for a world of hurt next season. Starting off against a distinctly mid to lower team and losing would show they are miles behind, they need a draw at least to show they can handle the big league. Swansea on the otherhand are not expected to beat Man Utd or indeed the likes of Arsenal so the pressure is off and they can play with that comfort in mind thus reducing jittery mistakes. I am kinda glad we have the big teams early because we have a longer run in the games we can win.
Im hoping we catch teams like man utd cold but they will be right up for it with it being moyles first game and they will have a few big signings to call on....I will be keeping a close eye on their pre season and their opener against wigan in the charity shield to see if they have any weakness in the squad....whatever we need 5 or 6 quality players just to compete with the majority of clubs because if we carry on where we left off we have had it whoever we play at the end of the season.......
Keep the faith Dai, and hope that they're big signings wouldn't have arrived by then In saying that, I would pay the ticket fee just to watch Ronaldo should they sign him.
Don't want to speak for Dai, but the drift I get is that if we continue to perform with the level of ineffectiveness in terms of results as we did after the League Cup into next season we will be dead and buried by Christmas. Will it take 5 or 6 new players to reinvigorate or just a rest plus a little kick up the pants .... we will know soon enough.
Dont worry about me keeping the faith as i always think we are going to win but the reality side of me kicks in im afraid...anyway im flying back home on Friday and back in Swansea on saturday when i can plan my season ahead..
Actually Moyes doesn't have an easy baptism at all: Swansea (a), Chelsea (h), Liverpool (a). Now I'm not feeling so bad.
I am pretty certain that the apart from going away to the likes of Man City, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal then having to play us away is an opening game they would prefer not to have. I am sure both teams will be up for it and hopefully we can catch them cold - I'd settle for a 2-2 right now with Michu and our new striker (whoever he may be) getting the other.
Did I just read this correctly! Cheers Dai, made my day. PS hope your hols are going well...it must have been **** looking at the amount of posts you have made (admit it, you love us!!)
Can't see me doing as many as last year (I can hear you shouting Plastic as I am typing!) - probably Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Stoke, Palace, Southampton, Chelsea, Man City.....and Sunderland
