Went with Button this week....I would have said Hamilton I don't see him clawing back from his grid penalty. I hope to be proven wrong though.

Yes. I think this is the first time I've taken part in a 'Prediction thread' - and I went for Hamilton.

I think the gearbox problem is likely to make a lot of us look a bit silly…

I agree about Grosjean, he is a disaster in all the races I've seen, but maybe his good qualifying will keep him in a seat.

Fingers crossed that it does rain, I'm a Ferrari fan and it seems our best chance is for inclement conditions, would love to see Perez go well too and ultimately replace Massa at the Scuderia

I predicted Button but if it rains I'm going for a shock winner, who knows, Kobayashi perhaps?!

I would vote for Hamilton, but since I generally curse the poor little b'stard, I think I'll refrain from that one. I might Jinx Button this time out. (Yes I know he had a pap one last time out, but that one wasn't my doing. Honest Guv'nor!) :p

WTH is that on the back of the McLaren?

My wife says it's a spike strip to fend off Massa! :D

And is there enough flow-vis paint on that Ferrari?

Dammit cant sleep, gonna have to miss p2 if i want some sleep. Looks like McLaren have got a giant metalic comb on the back of their car, doing some testing during practice. Looks very cold out there.

It's what's called an 'aero rake'. It measures air-flow from many different points and the position that McLaren have it suggests they are gathering data on the airflow from the diffuser.

Yeah, JB hasn't yet learned the Hamilton's name for it…

[edit: 'JB' obviously does not stand for 'James Bond', since I think 'M' must have designed it]

Interesting to hear from Martin that it is a cracked component in Lewis's gearbox, and that theyre using it in free practice to gather data and dont have to change it. Though he is 99% sure they will change it because theres no point in taking a risk and leaving with no points. Wheres the gaffa tape when you need it, im sure welding is against the rules :)

Interesting that the BBC coverage now has Edwards in the commentary box with Alguersuari and James Allen on roving duties down in the pitlane. It's like a flashback to the twentieth century.

Yes. Oddly enough, they are allowed to weld it without a penalty, so long as it is not changed. However, I am certain they will change it. (And as certain that they will not weld it as I am currently residing in this Universe!)

Yes. When I can hear it, I'm getting the same commentary via an on-line stream.

Interesting comparison of Mercedes v McLaren on the straight. Currently, Mercedes appear to be far faster! (Which will, no doubt, cheer up EMSC).

That big straight is paying off on lap times for Mercedes, although Webber recovers top spot from Schumacher, having done "the firstest fast sector" (according to Edwards).

A couple of DRS issues out there. Raikkonen has to deactivate his manually and Vettel's isn't working at all.

    Hamilton looks mighty.

A truly stunning final lap from Hamilton: I was expecting Rosberg to eclipse Hamilton's previous quickest, but that was a real stunner from the McLaren driver.
