Not a specific track just a new venue in a new market. I doubt he'd return to somewhere he's recently abandoned.

Shock return to the A-1 ring? It's been declared up to standard recently hasn't it? Imola has too.

I meant just for this season.

I would love it if Turkey returned permanently to the F1 calendar, but like you said I think it is much more likely that places like Russia or Asian countries will take up places instead of it.

Ah right, I see what you mean now. Bet he could get a 2nd German race no question. Ooh, imagine if they could wrangle another race at Brands! (ah, the foolish hopelessness!)

The A-1 ring would make some sense. In the same way Germany had two GPs when Schumacher was winning and Spain received a second race following Alonso's WDCs, the current Red Bull influence might hold some sway.

Another thing that occurs to me, though, is that the teams resent a 20 race season so perhaps the FIA include a couple of races they expect to be cancelled (last year they may have doubted India but in the event it was Bahrain that went).

Ah, right. No, I don't think another venue would be added this year.

thats actually seems like a good idea in that the European GP should be held at a track in the country of last years WDC or WCC, thats not already on the calendar.

Will not happen anytime soon. They got some "green" legal regulations that stand in the way. Red Bull Ring will probably never see a F1 race. At least not in the foreseeable future.

Aw, that's unfortunate. I liked that circuit and I imagine Red Bull would be excellent hosts.

On an earlier point - the FIA couldn't reactively hold the Euro GP at from wherever last year's championship winning driver or team hail. The contracts take a while to set up and run for a number of years. They can't just chuck one in on the fly because another dropped out.

Is Speed owned by Fox? That kind of makes sense then:

You're just jealous 'cos it beat your mega-thread.

Yes, it makes sense to close it now, but I suspect an equivalent for 2013 will be required before too long.

I note that in this short statement, Andrew Westacott; CEO of the Australian Grand Prix, makes heavy reference to the importance of his race continuing to be free to air. I am also very pleased to see that someone has the backbone to stand up to Bernie with a loud, 'NO!'. Westacott sets a good example to the organisers of all other races.

In my opinion, Bernie is far too ready to turn F1 into an exploitative circus. Of course, it already is; but constant messing around with other people's interests in order to facilitate his whim is dictatorial in the extreme. Then again, playing fair according to others has never been on Bernie's agenda. One wonders if he feels buoyed-up now that he has Murdoch on his side… ? …
