Christian Horner is team principal of RBR.
Helmut Marko is Mateschitz' F1 advisor.

Surely the point is that it is in the interests of competition for all teams to 'play by the same rules'?

Owning two teams has obvious advantages for them both; ergo, it puts all others at a respective disadvantage.

It costs an awful lot of money to run an F1 team, and most cannot possibly afford a second one. Also, there is a limit to how many cars can form an F1 grid (roughly 26). Therefore the less wealthy teams are necessarily disadvantaged. This is not healthy for F1, since its stability relies upon the diversity of its competitors.

Woops! Thanks
Tom. You are quick to notice my slight of hand!

Now ask yourself where Helmut Marko fits in to influence both teams…

No problem <cool>

I dont get your question? Marko stands above Horner and Tost. He coordinates Mateschitz' interests in F1.

Somebody says why don't Ferrari just buy up another F1 team. Well, far be it for me to mention a certain team that currently uses Ferrari engines and has a Ferrari rookie in the second driver seat... and definitely doesn't have a history of similar... and whose name rhymes with Mauber :bandit:

Not so much a question as a highlighting of Marko's role and influence Tom. Marko runs between both garages in an attempt to co-ordinate their operations. In this sense, he (and of course Mateschitz above him) are actually running four cars, in contravention of the ethics of the sporting regulations, if not the regulations themselves.

Yes. You are quite right.
In fact Ferrari (by far the richest team already) want to further increase their influence with the notion of three cars per team (ahem): not that many will be able to afford it or that a grid can accommodate 3 cars for 12 teams in any case; and not that Ferrari give a damn about allowing others to compete on an equal footing…

Sauber signed Perez before he joined Ferrari's driver academy. If Ferrari had influence over Sauber's driver line-up, Kobayashi would be replaced with Bianchi. You don't see Sauber doing Ferrari many favours - look at how Kobayashi defended against Massa in Canada.

I think Ferrari's links with Sauber are currently acceptable.

There are rumours that he will, though I sure hope not.
Same goes for Mercedes with Force India. These technical links are somewhat disreputable.

The fact of the matter is the other teams are going to have to do the same, otherwise they run the risk of STR helping RBR to another crown, who knows what could have happened in Abu Dhabi last year if Webber hadn't been allowed passed by his different-team team-mate? Influencing the members of another team is highly illegal in pretty much EVERY form of sport, and people can go to jail for fixing results.

Just been confirmed on Benson's Twitter. Logical decision, at least it's not Legard.

Perhaps the BBC feel so much at the mercy of Sky that the only person they can be certain not to be poached will be the unbearable Legard?

Agreed.
He could also make a world record attempt on speaking the most words in a minute - especially if they are random…

Even drawing on martial arts training I couldn't possibly manage 111 but I'll happily volunteer - even if I can only manage one! Then again, I don't think it would be difficult to find 111 volunteers at one each…
