What a waste of money. I thought they would of come up with something more retro to suit the style of the caterham car company

I would be very shocked if Di Resta and Hulkenberg were not confirmed for Force India so in reality i think there are 2 seats that are still properly up for grabs

In my opinion what STR should have done is keep Alguersuari as team leader and bring in Ricciardo, two rookies is quite dangerous when they want to start challenging teams above them

So lets look at whats left for Buemi and Alguersuari.

Force India (canditates in order of likelyness)
    Di Resta
    Hulkenberg
    Sutil

No chance there. So just two seats

    Williams
    Maldonado (confirmed)
    Sutil
    Barrichello
    Senna?
    Petrov? (money)
Hulkenberg? (unlikely return but a strong driver)

Faint chance here, but a lot of contenders.

    HRT
    De La Rosa (confirmed)
    Liuzzi
    Petrov?
    <insert highly sponsored driver>

    Spanish ties with Alguersuari perhaps?

Either way Toro Rosso have absolute bastards with the timing of this announcement. There really isnt anywhere for them to go. The press release talked about bring red bull drivers into F1, but they've probably killed of these two.

Not entirely surprising news really. Shame for Buemi though. It will be interesting to see Ricciardo and Vergne against each other next season though.

Finally Toro Rosso are acting in accordance to their purpose they had when entering in 2006: give new drivers the chance to prove themselves in F1. But I can't believe they've dropped Alguersuari when he was just starting to improve. Very strange decision. Perhaps, as he's Spanish HRT may be an option for Jaime- Buemi may never race in F1 again?

Neither of them stood out as potential world champion material, and with Webber having 1 or 2 seasons left, Toro Rosso really have that time to find a potential champion to replace him at Red Bull. Ricciardo and Vergne might cut it, they might not, but for Red Bull it means they'll know if their young driver program is producing anyone special.

As for the two departing drivers, Alguersari to HRT, as suggested, is plausible, it fits in with the way HRT are styling themselves, but whether he brings enough money could be an important factor. Maybe HRT have stalled announcing a second driver before Toro Rosso confirmed their line-up? Does anyone know whether they had pre-existing contracts for this year? Toro Rosso may be forced to find them race seats as Force India were for Liuzzi, so we might see one of them back at HRT.

Their seats are going to Vergne and Ricciardo. Don't agree with this at all and feel sorry for the two lads being kicked out after all their hard efforts.

I couldn't agree more. Damned Marko and Red Bull: a plague on both their teams.

Really really liked Jaimie however you spell his name. Hope he finds another race seat, maybe Caterham ?

Not too sure about Vergne. Should have done what they did to Ricciardo last year, would have been better for him.
