The original plan was for the new main building, new pitches & mini grandstand. The revised plans now include a further 4 or 5 new pitches on a new piece of land, which I presume the club had to purchase. Also, the dome had to be knocked down and will be rebuilt.

Can't understand why any fan would be nervous, unless they are the type who get easily paniced by any old **** said in the media and on the internet...

    ah, I see your point.

Approx. 83% of our fanbase will be bedwetting tonight.

Either that or they spent the other 15 million on industrial strength disinfectant after they fish mongers from down the road had been working there.

I don't see that transfer debt as particularly significant to be honest. The increase in TV revenue will pretty much cover that on its own, and we still have Osvaldo to probably be sold which will take care of a fair proportion of it. Sure, we might have one or two seasons of spending £25m instead of £35m, but in the long term we're still in a very good position.

I don't see these figures as that terrifying (especially as it isn't my money :)). The new board is going to be working hard to improve our position, but these debts are not massive compared with income as long as our owner doesn't want repaying immediately (and there is no sign of that). We are not a Chelsea...but we all knew that.

Indeed. I was going to write as much myself a little while back but decided to play Bowmaster Japan instead, as I'm a little hooked on it.
Also, as far as the £30M for the Academy is concerned instead of £15M - that's hot air. The initial plan was for £15M, but both Cortese and Liebherr upped their ideas. Besides, it's a one off.

I'll admit I was a little surprised by how good it is. I've completed it loads of times, but I just like the feel and dynamics of it, so I keep going back to do better. Even the music is very appropriate.

    Have a go someone.

The thread seems to have wandered into a new dimension! I found a few figures, forgot to keep the sources, Liverpool minus £45.1m, Chelsea minus £49.4m and Man City minus £51.6m but the dates are fairly random. Arsenal seem to be in profit and Manure seemed to have a monster debt and don't seem concerned.

And anyone questioning the support of the Liebherr family should note that new equity injected this year. All positive in reality, club going in the right direction and hardly bankrupt...

Wouldn't the money for Staplewood have been paid as it has progressed rather than a one off payment when it is completed?

Of the outstanding transfer debt don't forget although we spent big on Dani O we will sell him on quickly when the transfer window opens to clear that in the same trading account period so that means that the £21m will reduce by whatever we get for him.
As stated by Saintdon, our debt is smaller than most championship clubs let alone Premiership clubs and most importantly our turnover to player wage ratio is exceptionally good....just ask QPR with a 120% ratio!

Adam Blackmore had some interesting tweets relating to this.

    First of all:

Seems that Nicola's extreme dictatorship wasn't all good stuff, clearly things had been hidden away, or at least not openly disclosed.

    Also this:

Top quote from #saintsfc director Hans Hofstetter worth supporters attention:

    Everything is fine. :)

Total wage bill is/was £47.1m. Would imagine players take up most of that.

Commercial income rose from £4.8m to £6.7m after Southampton's ascension to the top flight. That doesn't seem a lot, could it be we are not providing what people want? Not pushing the brand enough? A new striped shirt design could get instant results!

We could always rebrand as the Southampton Saints and change from a solid red to a luminous pink home strip.

    Anyone?
