Uefa's Financial Fair Play regulations were supposed to put the handcuffs on the likes of Man City & Chelsea. It may have some effect, but I'm sure Chelsea & MCFC's lawyers are bigger & smarter than Uefa's and they'll find ways of getting "legitimate income" into those clubs via loopholes. City have already been trying it on by the naming rights to the stadium & training ground etc.
This is the bit where people throw around terms and figures that I can't understand. I think FFP is the right idea and didn't agree with Cortese on that one (but understood why). Hopefully it can be done well. I realise I'm going to look back on this and think I was so optimistic.
"At 30 June 2013 (balance sheet date) there were £21m of committed transfer fees still to be paid and since this date a further £27m of player transfers were negotiated (in the 2013/14 season). Whilst £21m has been paid in this current season, £27m will still be owed from 30 June 2014, with £22m of this being due in 2014/15 alone" That's what the OS have published.
Is this include in the totals? PREMIER LEAGUE 2014 Prize Money: 1st Place - £27,871,000 2nd Place - £26,478,000 3rd Place - £14,400,000 4th Place - £25,084,000 5th Place - £23,691,000 6th Place - £22,297,000 7th Place - £20,904,000 8th Place - £19,510,000 9th Place - £18,116,000 10th Place - £16,723,000 11th Place - £15,329,000 12th Place - £13,936,000 13th Place - £12,542,000 14th Place - £11,149,000 15th Place - £9,755,000 16th Place - £8,361,000 17th Place - £6,968,000 18th Place - £4,181,000 19th Place - £2,787,000 20th Place - £1,394,000
My only slight concern about all this (and one I've had for a while) is that our ambitions are going to hover around Moyes-era Everton. Hence a lot of seasons like this one where we reside in the upper mid-table with the occasional threatening of Europe, along with a lot of proclamations here of "well the season's over now, nothing to play for". My worry about that is whether that level is enough to retain the services of ambitious up and comers like Shaw, and more to the point, to keep Mauricio.
Nothing seems too bad when I read those results, but I can't say I'm that much of an expert on those kind of things. The outstanding transfer fees situation seems a very poor one. £27m still owed, with £22m next season, will be damaging to our chances of signings new players. It is great that it seems the new board want to keep Poch and the key players, but those figures, as well as a doubling of the training ground development budget, will surely lead them to hand out money with greater caution. We may have our answer to why Katharina wanted more of a say on things at the Club, as it seems that Nicola's strategy may have not been so sustainable in the long time.
He said that a while ago, but I think things have been running away from him. Those rapid promotions meant big bonus pay outs (including his own no doubt), having players bought for the lower leagues on too high wages so we couldn't move them on, paying off Nigel, the increase in costs for the training ground, and needing to buy PL quality players (some of whom didn't work out). Not a hopeless situation, but obviously enough to want the owner to have some input. There is scope for commercial development...our higher profile should warrant decent shirt sponsors for a start.
Probably does in the detail, but the proportion of wages to income has improved. That is good by the average PL figure. Of course, we may have to negotiate better deals for some players and the manager to keep them sweet. Please buy Osvaldo, Juventus.

I'm no builder, but I don't understand how the cost of the training ground has doubled from the original quote. A million here and there is maybe expected, but double?
Has any building project come in on budget (that is not an invitation to deluge me with stats ). I think the initial plan was to use the original dome, but it was subsequently found to be too substandard and deep foundations were needed....that may have been part of it.
