Good thread Some people (we all know who) are never happy. Pessimistic and negative. The most important point for me is that we are now playing as a team. Our players look like they give a sh•te. They're working hard for each other. The promised land is the Prem. It really doesn't matter how we get there. There's 23 other managers and hundreds of thousands of fans who would give their right arm to be where we are. I know we are not playing fantastic football just yet but provided our attacking players (Austin, AJ, Hoillett, Philips and Kranjcar) avoid serious injury we will get better as the season goes on. Other teams font have the quality we have.
I cannot wait for Saturday to hear our fans sing Top of the league, top of the league we're Queens Park Rangers we're top of the league I am delighted with our start to the season.
More than happy with our start. If we can emulate our last promotion season I would be ecstatic! If I remember correctly we didn't lose until December? Could do without the drama at the end of the season like last time though!
Re: 20 points from 8 games - Still no positive threads. How about the Richard Dunne "man mountain" thread?
If we go on as we are and get promoted with nothing better than 1-0 wins I'll be well happy, even though if I could get to most of the games I'd want to be entertained a bit more too. But it's a long long way to go, and from what I've seen and heard we need extra cover at the back and up front, and need to improve our attacking play considerably, if we are going to go up.
That is being "ginger'est" Flyer. If you had a kid who happened to be ginger and was suffering abuse at school over the colour of their hair, you wouldn't appreciate that comment.
Our fans are displaying the classic symptoms of collective anxiety, this is commonly known as 'Imposter Syndrome.' The impostor syndrome is when a person is unable to believe in their achievements. Proof of success is dismissed as luck, timing, or as a result of deceiving others into thinking they are better and more competent than they believe themselves to be. In our case it's a collective by association but it amounts to the same thing. When you combine this psychological trait along with the unfulfilment of watching a current Rangers performance, you get this collective feeling. So far, it's been really boring watching a Rangers match. We've not really improved on the pitch this season in terms of performance following the last two seasons. A bit more fight but essentially it's the same. Our brains can't differentiate this season from the last one. What we need is a couple of cracking games to release some dopamine into the brain and this will shake us out of our current mental state. A couple of good performances and wins will alleviate this and then all the fans will feel that they have their Rangers back.
Is that a bit like when you score 100% on a multiple choice quiz related to subject matter that you thought you knew nothing about?
Granted, we are top, but we have not really faced any of the major opposition yet. Come Jan/Feb, that will be sorted. So yes, I'm happy at the moment, but the fat lady hasn't even arrived in the building yet.
I don't think there is anything negative or pessimistic about wanting to be entertained. We have, man for man, the best team in the league, we have a rock solid back 5 and, as Nuts pointed out, some very talented attacking players. We also have a manager who has, until our park the bus period around Christmas last year, has always tried to attack. It will come. At the ground I think we yearn for a release of the tension that has built up over the last 2 and a bit years - a crushing victory for a change. For the 'the scoreline is all that matters' brigade - that's what Stoke did very successfully under Pulis for several years. The fans hated it.
Of course I'm happy that we are top, but I am far from happy with the quality of our play. We have been quite lucky so far and could just as easily be in the bottom half based on performance levels. I am confident that performances will improve and that we are capable of dishing out a few hidings, but HR needs to be more positive with player selections and formations.
I don't know who you regard as the moaners and whingers. We have played reasonably. Our results have been based on character, team work, a work ethic and a huge dose of good fortune in most of the games we've played so far. One of these days the opposition is going to put the ball in the net as opposed to rattling the woodwork. We've had some misfortunes in terms of injuries but the position we now find ourselves in is one which was easily foreseeable and should have been avoided. We cannot rely on one forward running himself into the ground every game. Is it really a crime or sign of disloyalty to question why that problem was not sorted? There has been no time wasted in getting rid of forwards and I'm sorry but you can't have it both ways. Some on here say that they would rather have Harry then a.n other because he can attract players to the club that he (a.n other) can't and yet that seems to be forgotten when Harold can't get someone in to share the workload up front with Austin. What's the problem? Surely there must be somebody out there who has not previously played for Harold who must be worth a punt? Hopefully that will change in the next few days. But one thing is for sure. We won't go through the season eking out 1-0s and 0-0s. At some point we are going to have to start putting the ball away. Finally, as Stan has said 'It's not a crime to want to be entertained and play with some style'
I am delighted with our position. As I said on another thread, if we had played more open, and more attacking we would have conceded more goals and could have had a couple of losses to our name this season - as it is we have completely removed any hangover from last season with an unbeaten record. If we had been beaten, then that may not be the case. However, play like we did against Yeovil against the better teams in this division and we will come unstuck for sure.
Flyer, Are you perhaps a "secret" Ginger? Is this you as a boy? Even If You Don't Have Red Hair, Your Secret Ginger Genes Might Be Trying To Kill You please log in to view this image http://jezebel.com/5969296/even-if-...cret-ginger-genes-might-be-trying-to-kill-you You know what's worse than growing carrot shreds where your hair should be? Knowing those locks of cheddar-string-cheese hair (technical term) might actually be trying to kill you. Greaaaat. As we know, redheads are more susceptible to certain health risks like skin cancer and social ostracizing. I can say all of this because I dated a redheaded dude once. JKJK, I'm actually just a self-hair-hating ginger*. You can't see me right now because I'm embarrassed and standing in front of a red wall. SOCIAL SUICIDE! But you know what's even more frightening than living life as an outted ginger? The fact that you could be a redhead and not even know it. I know! According the the v reputable Daily Mail, research to be released this week indicates millions of Britons carry âsilent' genes for redheadedness. If we expand upon that information, it's probably a decent percentage of the world's population that suffers from secret-redhead-itis. The genetic mutation is silent, but it is also deadly. Now a ground-breaking study of more than 5,000 British people's DNA indicates that around four in ten of us carry the genes that make hair red - only they are not switched on to influence hair colour: they are ârecessive'. The genes may, however, be at work in other ways that could profoundly affect our health. The true rate of ginger genes has been revealed by early results from a project called BritainsDNA, which has harnessed scientific expertise from Edinburgh University. Bright side? You can breathe a sigh of relief that you don't have to live with red hair. I know, it always comes back to me, but as a chubbosaurus redhead youth â with a Sinead O'Connor haircut in the era of The Sandlot, to boot â was not easy for a girl! I'm over it. I'm totally over it. Now all I have to worry about is health risks that disproportionately affect redheads, "such as increased sensitivity to pain, skin cancer, Parkinson's disease and even Tourette's syndrome." Although, honestly, that sounds like a walk in the park compared to middle school. *Actually, that's not true, and as I've gotten older, I've learned to love the orange beast that resides atop my head, embrace my uniqueness, do me, etc.
Im happy with a current situation even if our attacking play has been pathetic in some matches. If we forget that Yeovil match yesterday and first half of Birmingham match i believe we have been better than our opponents and not just on the scoreboard but on the pitch too. What about our defence then? It has been pure concrete from the day one and i believe promotions and champions are easier to take with great defence and medicore attacking force rather than great attacking force and medicore defence......? Mind you we have had plenty of goalscoring chances this season too. Just to name Austin , who for example has had chances at least for ten goals this season and he has only scored two. 20 points from eight matches is great achivement. Just be patient goals will come soon, points have coming all season.
