statistics (as well as a good bit of bias) would suggest that we have a better midfield than Liverpool, at least in the centre anyway. Tiote and Cabaye have put in more miles than any midfield pairing - only Aaron Ramsey has run further.

the game itself will be a tough test for us. If we get anything out of the game I will see it as a victory as most people will write us off.

I think our only chance of succeeding will be bringing in Davide Santon as his pace will be key to nullifying your threat from the wings, Danny Simpson backs off far too much and Ryan Taylor is being played well out of position. We will create chances and Ben Arfa at the hour mark could provide a bit of magic but as I said, it'll be a tricky encounter and one I would not be OVERLY disgruntled to lose!

    Is this deliberate irony?

The key is how much freedom Cabaye will get if he is deep it would suggest we're respecting the opposition too much and if we want to beat them we got to treat them as any other premier league team and pressure them from the off.

Well, I still need to learn more about Newcastle. Obviously you've made a great start, and rate as the surprise of the league so far. Watching casually, it looked like you were determined to get rid of your best players. Now it seems obvious you traded in your old team for a considerably better one. Ba and Best having seven goals between them is certainly a surprise. Who's been playing the best in your midfield? It's also clear your defending has been good, and your keeper has been great.

Well, it's a good test for both teams. We'll see if Newcastle's tough defending can handle Tottenham's attacking options. We'll also see if the addition of Parker and Ade will continue to enable Spurs to score on and beat the teams they weren't able to handle last year. With any luck it'll be an exciting game, whatever the result.

Cabaye and Tiote, got it. I agree your midfield looks better than Liverpool's at the moment.

He is probably your biggest weapon on the 16th, Colo is probably the best centre back we had in the EPL but he hates being turned and Adebayor is the sort of striker who holds the ball and tries to disrupt defenders and them sort are Colo's kryptonite... which is why Tiote will need to be sharp when Spurs attack.
