Not true at all really. Plenty of people who have been subject to racist abuse are in favour of total freedom of speech. I think these lads (the Sammy insult lads) are complete and utter idiots, but I also think that arresting people for saying a racist remark like that will only strengthen the opinions of nationalists who regularly complain about 'thought police' and having to give 'special preference' to people of other races in their 'own country'. In the bigger picture it simply widens the gap between racial minorities and racists because no racist is going to give up his beliefs if he thinks the government is forcing him to do it.

I think its a bit over board to arrest them - although, it is good that they are publically humilliated and it should make people think before they say words like they did on Twitter.

I'm what most would probably describe as half cast, although I class myself as white as my dad is white and mother is half cast, so I have a Leon Osman type skin look lol. If someone called me that, then I would be offended, but probably wouldn't want them to be arrested. Sammy obviously took offence and wants to get the lads wrong for what they have said. Up to him I suppose, can't complain if thats what he wishes.

I haven't read the tweets but if they were racist I don't condone them for an instant. However, these are easy arrests. I wish the police were as zealous in dealing with so-called 'anti-social' behaviour by teenagers (what I call 'criminal' behaviour). I was driven to the brink of a nervous breakdown some years ago by a bunch of pointless morons attacking my house. The police refused to do anything useful, but I was warned of the consequences if should retaliate. By the way, I should have done.

A bit of perspective. That's all I ask.

The reason they were arrested is for the simple fact it's against the law and sammy and the club reported it to the police so the police had to act.I'm sure there would have been a bigger uproar if the police did nothing after it was reported to them.the lads will in all likelihood get a caution.
