I think sometimes you try to remain positive and you take as much as you can from a situation then BOOM something triggers you over the edge. You're still a negative person Simonyou've gone from one extreme to the other. Try and find some middle ground

When we signed Pearce I was over the moon, I was annoyed when we lost out on Ward but at the time I accepted the argument that he selected Palace over us for personal reasons. I told myself that Green might be average but he is better than Mikka and that Drury might be old but he is still better than Parker. My patience was growing thinner in regards to the takeover and we sold Clayton and brought in Paddy then sold Lonergan.
News of Austin came through and again my optimism rose then in the space of 48 hours or so we signed Gray, Norris, Varney, Warnock spoke out how he nearly quit because we didn't have the cash for Ward and we sold Snodgrass - That was enough for me to snap and a dose of reality to slap me round the face that the season ahead probably isn't going to be as I expected. It then becomes easy to ignore anything positive as it would need an immense dose of excitement and a flurry of marquee signings, neither of which look like they are just around the corner.

I think NW is doing the best with what he has been dealt. If he had kept last seasons squad minus Snoddy we would be fighting relegation. As it is 10th would be about right as I see it. It is obvious the money isn't there, we are 10 days away from the Shrewsbury game, would NW have left it this late to bring in the 'money' players had him some cash? Any he has spent out on are through wheeling and dealing his way through pre-season. The £500k for Pearce probably from the sale of Howson when he was here and saved wages from those early released players. I would guess that he has around £750k to spend and the rumour is around this figure for the Peltier bid.Exactly, I was fairly happy, we'd signed what I expected to be solid squad players and there was talk of the crucial signings still having to come in. Then we sell Snodgrass and Norris turns out to be one of the players coming in, with the likes of CMS and George Boyd being the names touted as the "marquee signings". I'm finding it hard to see where some people are getting there confidence from, aside from the fact Warnock is apparently some kind of magic promotion wizard. This season just has mid-table written all over it IMO.

I personally would not sign CMS or Boyd and I don't think NW will be unless the T/O occurs and he has a pot of money to spend. No way is Bates going to authorise those purchases and risk the potential buyer pulling out and being lumbered with a bill.
I have enough things in every day life to deal with, so if I can get optimistic about the season ahead I will, when I say negative I mean we haven't kicked off yet and people are already writing our season off !! I ask myself whats wrong with these people reality is all well and good but give the guy a chance first, and although warnock is no harry potter his promotion record speaks for itself.
Well we're stuck with Colin whether we like it or not, we're stuck with him wanting to sign 'his type of player' whether we like it or not. If he suddenly had millions at his disposal he still wouldn't try and sign the Barca midfield, he'd still go for grafters, it's just his way. I really don't know what else he's supposed to do with so little money - get rid of the deadwood from last season and build a completely new squad, that's what he's having to do. We might not be totally enamoured with the Greens and Norris's and Grays etc but it's either that or stick with the squad from last season - and we all saw what happened then, 13 points from 14 games. I was sick of Grayson never sorting the defence out, at least that looks stronger now. Yes on paper Grayson had a stronger looking midfield, Gradel, Howson, Clayton, Snodgrass etc, but the defence was dire so we got nowhere, and even with players of that calibre the football was at times abysmal.
Let's give Colin a chance, I'd rather we hoof balled our way to promotion than tippy tappied our way to mid table Championship mediocricity.
But that is your opinion Bob, I am quite happy with the thought of Peltier, quick, young, better than Connelly and hopefully can be moulded into something special. I hate the thought of Boyd but my mate loves him and we are all divided on Beckford. I agree with strachallister in that we need to give NW a chance and hope that he has managed to assemble a team that plays well together despite all our differing opinions on what warrants a good and bad signing but at the same time I am NOT getting excited and I don't tell people off for being optimistic so they should respect those that are reserved or negative.Peltier is pish, most people who watch him say so, so why on earth would Warnock want him? It's this kind of thing that is annoying the **** out of me, he's bringing in players who are simply not good enough.
Have to agree, I know I say I am not happy with the signings but without funding and having to wheel and deal what can we realistically expect. NW said himself we could have held on to Snoddy had the T/O happened sooner but it never and it hasn't.I really don't know what else he's supposed to do with so little money - get rid of the deadwood from last season and build a completely new squad, that's what he's having to do.
