    No point cutting off our nose to spite our face though. I don't see the value in keeping him. so he has a great season for us - like he did this year, what did it get us ? Best to maximise his value by selling now and build for the future without him - than get nothing for him at the end of the next season but a CL spot.

    We would undoubtedly be weaker without him though.

    If we are going to lose him anyway we might as well get as much for him as we can. Weaker this year or the next, at least we should be compensated for it.

    With RVP and Podolski up front next season though, we've got a better chance of winning something.

    Bearing in mind his very poor injury record, isn't there a very real risk he will just go through the motions rather than risking injury before his last big move?

  7. I dont think so - I just think he is the type that would still give everything to win a trophy - not like Fabregas who effectively gave up in his last year.
    Remember if he is on a free transfer next year he will also get much higher wages as no fee will paid - it could work out very well for him financially.
