Spot on assessment, the only thing missing was the two excellent saves that Ashdown made. I always thought he was crap, but he changed my mind yesterday. Maguires goal must be up there with the best goal in the Championship this season.
How can anyone say a draw was a fair result. Just because Pompey worked there socks off, scored two bloody great goals, one bad missed chance and created very little after that. On a normal day we would have put at least 5 of the good chances away. I can't take anything away from pompeys efforts but deserve a draw my as- They should have played most of the game with 10 players too. If I were a Pompey fan, I would have hoped we hadn't have used all our luck up in one game.
It all started off so well. Both sets of fans coming away from the game happy to have seen a good contest, Southampton fans content that they proved themselves a top of the table team by dominating posession and chances and Pompey fans happy that we scored two crackers and Ashdown played a blinder. It's all turning sour now and SB3 is not solely to blame. Lets move on. The games been played, it was a draw and it was very enjoyable. Lets leave it at that and look forward to the next match.
I wouldnt have said both sets of fans were happy coming away from the match, the Saints fans were well pissed off, but like you said it was a good contest, and Ashdown saved your asses, much like Super Kelv did for us at Leeds a few weeks back.
Who do you think should have been sent off then Possum ? Do tell - and don't you dare say Varney, as Sniderlin (or however you spell it ) slid in two footed on Varney who had possession of the ball, and quite clearly "crippled himself", and that challenge was made after he had already been booked in the first or second minute of the match !! Had Adkins been feeding him raw meat for a week ? What an animal he is - no self control at all. I bet you are looking forward to next Friday evening, for the Reading game - should be a absolute cracker. Good luck
He's talking about Rocha, who booted the ball into the fans after the ref blew for a foul, slapped Lallana's face after the Southampton player confronted him and allegedly elbowed someone.
Sorry guys but Rocha Should have had a straight red before the ball in the crowd incident. He came across Lallana by the touch line and tried to forearm elbow Lallana. Even the commentator commented. The guy was a idiot. Wd watch the Schneiderlin tackle back Schneiderlin did nothing wrong. Your guy studs him after Schneiderlin played the ball and maybe some refs might had shown a red for that if they had a clear view. I have looked at both incidents many times and that's just my opinion. I have watched our Derby games since 1972 and for me this was probably the most entertaining one because it had that every thing factor.
also, love to know what sort of person would ask billy sharp the question about his son on twitter....how some people can live with themselves is beyond me. Its only a game guys......yet a player joins saints, and has had no history of doing anything to pompey (before banging 2 in on sat) and gets abused, unreal.
As I said on your other thread saintern - it isn't all one-sided. The sort of person you're referring to is one very sick minded individual.
billy sharp disgraced himself with his celebration after his first but that's no reason to even think about mentioning the terrible situation with his son and its trolls like that that make twitter an awful place.
Sorry I jumped to conclusions Possum. Rocha was indeed a fool, and whilst he is an excellent centre half, the "red mist" does descend from time to time. He even got sent off on his debut for us with; from memory; quite a reckless challenge. With Varney, he was in full flow at the time of the incident, and had to ride the challenge, so a 50/50 one there, to my mind.
