Any news anywhere on what they might do Sunday - I am expecting to see Channon, Rodrigues, Holmes et al paraded round the pitch!
I'm enjoying this thread, reference scarves when we got back into Winchester someone had put a red scarf up on King Alfreds statue in the Broadway, hanging off his extended arm if memory serves,it looked fantastic, next time your in Winch have a look how high that is,how did he do it? You'd have to be pissed to try and get up there.
I thought it was common knowledge that the same open-topped bus that was used in 1976 was being used again for another tour around the city before the game on Sunday. I'm sure I even heard Adam Blackmore say something about it during the Villa commentary on Saturday. Think the plan is for the bus to be in Guildhall Square at 2:30 and for it to leave at 2:45, making it's way to St Marys in time for the 4:30 kick-off so I'm assuming there will be some sort of on the pitch parade.
This is the only reference to this happening that I could find (apart from I'm sure I heard Blackmore mention it) so it may be a load of b******s...!! http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footba...am-to-parade-down-to-st-marys-on-open-top-bus
Now found this from the Echo website so looks like it's definitely happening.... http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa...1976_FA_Cup_anniversary_celebrations/?ref=mac
Great thread FLT, awesome to hear some of the memories and stories. Nothing grand I can contribute I'm afraid. As a young whipper snapper this was the first full cup final I sat and watched on tele. No wide screen 50 inch, no pause live play and no HD. Not even an effing remote control. Just a small little box with the Back that was as long as the M3 This cemented my supporting of Southampton. Had nt long started primary school, full of arsenal, spurs, Leeds, Liverpool and man u kids. I had this love for Southampton and I don't know where it came from. I don't remember an awful lot of other stuff at that age but watching that with my family, a great day. Football was so different then and whilst so much has changed, the excitement and emotions are still the same
That was the thing back then. Tbf, on reflection, it's almost certainly better than juice [setting an example for kids], to help build strong bones [hear my child programming? ]
You bloody youngster. That's way before they graded it in terms of fat, half-fat, etc... Gold top was Jersey and Guernsey cows milk.
