Final position at the end of the season

Who would be disappointed with 15th if offered now?

15th thats about 55 to 58 points. So about 15 wins for the season? Nah. I would take 18 to 20 wins which might squeak into a playoff position. Having said that, I think 15th is not an unrealistic prospect. Just as long as they keep the wins at home.

Disappointed? Not particularly.
Happy? No.

Agreed!

I expect a play-off push but would settle for consolidation.

But it largely depends on the consolidation, if we do a play off push then fade away then that's cool, but if it's a season of mediocrity and consolidation then I will be a bit put out.

Especially as this is the first season I have had to play for an Adult ticket. People can finally swear around me legally.

...and my last. :emoticon-0142-happy

I want to see the approach and the spirit of last season continue into this one - the fundamentals of building on a tight defence to allow the midfield and forwards the freedom to cause discomfort to the opposition was a revelation for someone who's supported as long as I have.

If we can keep this going, perhaps adding just one or two players in order not to disturb the fabric of the side I think a top ten finish is possible.

I would be dissapointed with a 15th place finish especially if you compare this squad to the class of 2007/2008 where we finished in 11th place after being in the top six for most of the season.

Man-for-man we appear to be a lot stronger than the class of 2007/2008 i'm not sure if any of that team back then apart from Bougherra, Reid and possibly Iwelumo would get in our 101-points team. I don't remember the gulf between the Championship and League One being miles apart given Norwich and Southampton have just achieved back-to-back promotions as well. Then there are also clubs like Leeds and Brighton where top half finishes have been achieved.

I think this squad is capable of a top-10 finish possible flirt with the play-offs and i'd be happy if that's roughly where we finished.

Deserves its own thread!!

Interesting

Seems that people expect a playoff chase.

Is that based on a low opinion of the Championship, a high opinion of the Charlton team, or the expectation of new players.

Mine's primarily based on the handful of televised games I saw from The Championship last season - the standard was uniformly dreadful - largely free of individual skill and dull beyond belief. Even the playoff final was hardly stimulating. However, having said that, I would expect our side to hit the ground running, new blood or not.

Anything above relegation is a bonus to me, I think we need to consolidate and then push for the premiership. I would not be overjoyed with 15 but i would feel like its a job pretty well done.

If we can keep that winning mentality, and squad harmony that dug us out of some tight spots last season, then i think we are capable of more than 15th though.

Aothe ostrich here. fifteenth is not what I would hope for or even be terribly happy with, but that' s partly because for the moment, all this crisis talk seems unfounded to me, so I my woorld, we're the same old Charlton with maybe a couple of personell changes still to come. Tenth or higher please, plus beatingChelsea at home in the FA Cup fifth round.

Wow a blast from the past. I can't believe I didn't say it at the time, but I think I was fairly clear. I would've been happy with 15th at the start of the season, still would be now.

I have been searching through my old posts to see what I forecast around the beginning of the season but cannot find the right thread. I think I forecast 15th but I am not sure what I posted. All the time secretly hoping for a play-off challenge, and still am, though the hope has faded somewhat.
