Dudeks last appearance for us won us the pen shoot out, as well as THAT save from Shevva in injury time! Bottled it is the last thing he did. He was average keeper who saved the best appearance of his career to his last game!

Westerveld was decent enough. Remember for most of those players careers we've been 4th placed team.

    Reina is obv stand out.

Kirkland had huge potential and injuries clearly has huge impact.

Many of those are back ups as well so never going to be brilliant, like Doni and Cavileri

I think it goes to show how difficult it is to find a good GK.

Liverpool aren't the only team to have had a string of GKs who were not good enough even if they showed certain levels of ability.

Personally I think a lot of the time more focus is put on the ten outfield players and managers fail to pick out a keeper who is up to the standard of the rest of the team.

Other than Utd who have done incredibly well with GKs over the years is there another team who hasn't had to settle with sub-standard keepers while looking for the right guy?

I suppose Chelsea have done well too.

I know as an Arsenal fan we had Seaman who was a legend, then Lehmann who despite being a nutter was a very good keeper, but then spent years trying to find someone who could fill those shoes. We had some good, but nothing special keepers, but until Cech no-one was good enough.

Probably kidnapped by the fashion police for crimes against hairstyling.

    - no 21st century appearances for Liverpool.

We've had some crap keepers in the past 20 years we really have.

    Here are my opinions:

Sander Westerveld - 7/10. Unfairly bombed out.
    Pegguy Arphexad - 5/10. Pants.
Jerzy Dudek - 6.5/10. Had his massive moments but in the league he was inconsistent.
Chris Kirkland - 6/10. Could and probably should have done better.
    Patrice Luzi - cant remember.
    Paul Jones - 5/10. Meh.
Scott Carson - 5.5/10. Never did it.
Pepe Reina - 7.5/8/10. At his best excellent. But actually was off the boil for a good few years before leaving. Best of the bunch though.
    Brad Jones - 4/10. ****e.
    Danielle Padelli. Cant remember.
    Charles Itandje - ****e.
    Diego Cavalieri - pants.
Alexander Doni - what was the point?
Simon Mignolet - 6. Has his good moments but has bloody awful ones too.
Loris Karius - 5.5/10. Not great atm.

Reina is the only genuinely good one we've had in a long time.

    Westerveld was good.

I don't think he did. I think Rodgers did what he had to do - Reina was flirting with Barca for so long and he practically got his move until it fell through.
