Instead of using the pathetically weak 'if you're so brilliant, why don't you buy the club' argument, why not address the points being made? Has increasing ticket prices resulted in reduced attendances and was it actually a really poor business decision?
Are season passes up around 40-50% over the past few years? With an average price of around £28 per home game? Hardly any surprise attendances are down. I remember around a decade ago, Adam Pearson upped gates during a difficult season by doing a deal of buy one full price ticket, get the next game ticket for pound - and coincided the deal with a popular game (v Leeds) to follow an unpopular game (v Plymouth).. or the other way round?, so the attendances were high for both. I guess this is beyond anyone involved in these kind of decisions at Hull City at the moment. Or that season pass prices have been so high and barely saved the cost of paying for a ticket each game, that any sort of deal like this would render the season pass more expensive than pay-on-day supporting.. the perils of exploiting your customer base.. ESSEX GULL
I am in full agreement with you there, it would be preferable for customers to pay at the turnstile as before but technology does not necessarily allow for ease of use and convenience for human beings.
They've gone up 35% in the past two seasons, the cheapest/most expensive season passes: 2013/13 - £395/£450 2014/15 - £501/£572 2015/16 - £531/£606
If the club had added 10 or 15% to the 13/14 cost (instead of keeping them at Championship prices) then no one would have complained. The huge rise the following season could have been avoided as well. We probably would have still faced a rise this season but a little forward planning and a lot of the bad-will amongst fans could have been mitigated. On the cheaper tickets 2013/14 no increase 2014/15 approx. 27% increase 2015/16 approx. 6% increase That's around 33% over 2 seasons Would have been much more acceptable for the first 2 seasons to be 15% each and a modest increase for this season.
You do your best but you can't deflect the fact that their famed business brilliance is not reflected in the running of the club as far as attracting people through the gates go.
A 35% increase over two seasons is excessive, particularly in a place like Hull, but my point was more specifically about increasing prices following a relegation and at a time when other factors have already alienated a lot of people. I just think it was madness and we're now paying the price.
A **** atmosphere last night considering we won 3-0. Let kids in for a quid, dad pays a tenner. Fill the ground and let's rock the place
the problem with giving too many discounts is why would you get a season ticket if you can save money each week - I know you're guaranteed your 'seat' but it could be a false economy for the club
I am not saying do it for every match. Supporters that have walked away need to be encouraged back. A few cheap matches might get them back. £27 to watch last night...crazy prices for the average guy in the street.
Just get some fans like these. More or less the right shirts(I wonder if a basketball team in Hull would see scenes like this?).
At the KC it would be sit down or get booed for enjoying yourself. What an atmosphere....fkg brilliant
attendances have always being lower the week after hull fair....remember my old man telling me that in the 70's but seeing as were in a good position in the league this saturdays game should be a sell out but of course wont be thanks to Allams pricing policy.
