With Stephane Sessegnon apparently on the way to West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland are in need of a playmaking midfielder -- and it looks as though their man might be Tottenham Hotspur's Gylfi Sigurdsson. Sigurdsson, who impressed with Swansea City during the 2011/12 season before a big move to White Hart Lane last summer, has been a disappointment with Spurs and is looking at reduced playing time after the recent acquisitions of Erik Lamela and Christian dembele. Paolo di Canio has identified Sigurdsson as a prime target, and he fits into this Black Cats squad more neatly than does Sessegnon, who frequently goes completely missing, especially when the rest of the team is struggling. Despite Sigurdsson failing to live up to his Swansea highs with Spurs, he's been far more consistent than Sessegnon, and that will endear him to his potential new boss. Keep an eye on this one.
I think thats inevidable. Looking at the title of this thread, I thought it was to discuss the whole of the deadline day action. Take it im wrong!
Yes, they obviously need to make way for Sess. Im suprised they letting him go though, hes a good player!
Apparently WBA are waiting to get Sess and Anichebe in then they'll let Long go, strange one that mind.
@YoungSunEcho Sunderland linked with Gylfi Sigurdsson at Spurs. Quality player, but would have to be permanent. No more domestic loans ‪#‎safc‬
Not a chance. I'd happily eat my words though as this is the type of player SAFC SHOULD be bringing in.
LOL we share the same hair dresser, he is a good tipper apparently so their is going to be a pissed of hair stylist in Sutton if this one goes through.
