Thought so. Not someone I wanted to stay anyway, far too slow and apart from the Boro game, looked past it.
In terms of where we finished in the league, probably one of the worst finishes since Don Revie took over. "Not the greatest" is understatement to the point of papering over the quite gaping cracks we've witnessed today and dozens of other times over the course of the season. Obviously we can only go on concrete evidence, but the indications for May/June/July/August don't look brilliant. Plenty of hedging terms like "he will back me as much as he's able" and "we can sell assets/generate funds" are being used. Same old, same old. In short, I reserve and redeem my right to be a negative bastard until there's full-fledged ambition. And no, one signature of Jason Pearce does not count as that. It is merely a single step in the right direction. But as the Desert Rose Band might well tell you, Leeds United are well versed in the practice of 'one step forwards and two steps back', so my mindframe remains gloomy for the time being.
Still, the signing of a top quality Championship defender at the earliest possible opportunity is certainly a promising indication of a better transfer window than last summer.
It's a good indication. But if Snoddy and White go, like I so relevantly quote: "one step forward and two steps back / nobody gets too far like that... this kind of life can never last"!
Stop getting excited, we haven't signed him yet. As far as we're concerned he's just an "iron in the fire".
Poisoned environment = sub-par performances. If there is no internal support, what is the point in giving 100% as it is a hopeless situation? Human nature, we all do it, I bet.
The only thing missing right now is an official announcement from the club, which I expect will come on Monday. Even a Portsmouth site stated he wasn't in the Pompey squad "as part of the agreement with Leeds United".
how many times have we heard about a signing that was "all but a done deal" and then it fell through because Harvey fluffed the negotiations as standard.
In fact - http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/p...lford-on-their-way-as-sales-hot-up-1-3787314# "Jason Pearce has reached an agreement to join Leeds."
