Frequently hear our fans saying how they work a long hard week for the tiniest fraction of what footballers earn and would jump at the chance to pull on the red and white. They say they'd give their all every game, 110 percent. Maybe these people would give 110% but they'd soon realise, after about 5 minutes, no matter how much effort they could muster they still wouldn't be 1% as good as most established top 10 PL players. To continously harp on about what footballers earn shows that these people don't understand footall at the elite level. We have fell away from the top because some of the players simply aren't good enough. Whether they give 1% or a 100%, they still aren't good enough. We can talk about a lack of effort, and it may be true in some cases that players aren't giving everything, but that's not the reason we've fell away. Too many players aren't good enough. That's the brutal fact of this intensly competitive league.
He PM'd me to say he was putting that in to see if any pedantic little skunk schoolboys were passing.
Here's the deal. Watch the Sunderland v WBA match. Then watch the Blackpool v Arsenal match. Then come back on here and tell me that after watching the way Blackpool never gave up, that you still think Sunderland put in 100%.
