You're 23 and you are calling him "son!" Nevertheless, you are spot on! Could really have been a legend if had stayed healthy.
Would have thought giving Gimpel an extra season worth a go. Let the lad build his strength and see if he develops. I have a funny feeling he is going to come good at a German club.
Not so sure. He's been around Leeds long enough now that if he had ability, surely the coaching staff would have seen it. I'd imagine Redfern would have had a decent input into assessing him. Clearly couldn't find positives. Lets face it, if Gimpel couldn't make an attempt to break into our piss poor squad, he's hardly likely to set fire to the Bundesliga
In regards to Gimpel I can't see it being the managers decision, he hasn't been with us long enough to take a proper look, surely this was on advice of the backroom staff?
Chances are he has taken to the limelight of being an LUFC player too much, and forgotten that it's harder to stay at the top than to get there in the first place. That £25k per week from players who never saw the light of day will come in handy
Think the cutting of Gimpel is purely a budget decision. Redfearn rated him highly but this has to be a money influenced gamble to release him. His age means he has to sign a senior contract, but he will then take a place on the squad list, and only 25 can be registered to play. So it looks like lean and mean, and McDermott will maximise the 25 places to drive for promotion, so no room for additional youngsters. This clearout is an indication for me that Byram will be sold and the money goes to Baldy to bring in some quality. Wonder which Reading players will come - expect at least three who Baldy will trust to bring a positive buzz to the dressing room along with a winning mentality.
