Gestede is refusing to sign for Watford, Watford_R because they want to include a wage reduction clause should they get relegated. He's having none of it apparently and won't put pen to paper.
Depends what the reduction is I guess. Sensible from Watford not to cave in. He's Deeney-esque so if he goes there maybe Deeney is off somewhere.
Of course, we might have misinterpreted the headline and it actually relates to a benevolent donation to improve Middle Eastern infrastructure as part of our FFP settlement. Just a thought.
Based on Fernandes' latest comments Gestede won't come to us either. TF: “We’ll lose players who don’t want relegation clauses and that type of thing. We’re not going to pay anything to get someone, either by transfer fee or wages.”
I think the club will always be a vehicle for players' careers. It's not about them 'putting the club first', it's more about wanting to play football to the best of their ability, always trying their hardest, thinking the club gives them the opportunity to do that and recognising that a successful team is good for them and future earning potential - they'll get what they deserve. The two lads from Swindon, if they had PL options, obviously get this. More of the same please. Not all of them will work out, but as long as they are thinking about football first, money second, they will be worth a punt. Rules out Rhodes and Gestede in my book.
