I guess it wasn't so bad in the end.
I was a bit shocked by the lack support and atmosphere tonight. Its been such a great place to come in the past and you were second in the league.
These new stadiums are a problem when attendances start falling. I remember going to Cov when they sliding down the leagues worst atmosphere ever in their too big stadium.
Good Luck for the rest of the season.

That's the best our atmosphere has been for ages!

Very streetwise performance from your lot, thought your centre backs were superb. We were very unlucky with the high foot penalty and that overall we moved the ball very well.

Good luck to you guys as well, with the squad you have I fully expect you to be one of the main contenders for the auto spots.

My throat is absolutely killing me today <laugh>.. Unfortunately, when attendances fall, so will the atmosphere.. It's sad, because at Ninian Park, we would have roughly the same amount of fans with a blazing hot atmosphere.

Thing is Jay, i also remember some great nights and days at Ninian park, however i witnessed more poor atmospheres there than i have at the new stadium, aka when our crowds were regularly below 5000 in the 80's. There have also been some cracking atmospheres at the new stadium, Palace in the league cup, Leicester in the league when we hung on for a 2 - 1 win with Gypes taking one for the team, the Swansea encounters etc etc, The unfortunate thing at the moment, it appears the immediate locals who claim to support the club have gone missing, probably to the TV in the many Grangetown and Canton pubs.

I know some valid reasons were given for fans not getting to games - ticket prices and travel issues for evening games being 2 applicable ones - but ffs we were second in the league, unbeaten so far and playing one of the division's better sides. However, to only see an extra 48 bums on seats for last night, compared to Saturday, is very poor and does not bode well for the future if we have a poor run.

In saying that a fighting performance from the team (Fabio in particular - glad he cooled down second half otherwise he could have been off for an early bath), a very poor referee (hope he remembers his Specsavers appointment today) and a Hull side who started time wasting as soon as they got ahead (yes, we would have done the same), certainly got the crowd fired up and actually provided the best atmosphere for a City home game since the Fulham/back to blue game last season.

One more gripe - programmes sold out by 7.30!!! I guess they try not to have any leftover after games but not to have any available for people arriving just before/after kick off is pi$$ poor and is another example of the way the club is disrespecting their fans, e.g. no more 50/50 tickets, closure of programme booths outside the ground, price increases on catering, deplorable PA reception - Ninian Stand in particular (it was slightly better last night but only because they turned up the volume, still could only pick up about half of what was said).

Barry Tiger managed to get 2 programmes from the club shop after the game but that is not the point. There should be an adequate supply available for fans before the game. You shouldn't have to traipse all around the ground trying to find the last available programme. Another gripe, programme size reduced by about 24 pages from last season but still £3 and in my opinion, reduced quality e.g. no list of other Championship games taking place last Saturday (I can't comment on last night as not got my programme yet <doh>) and more adverts.

I feel an e-mail to the club coming on, although they have not yet answered the e-mails sent by BT and me about the lousy PA system.

I said on another thread Isaw, people are still hungover from last season's mid table finish after expecting an immediate return to the prem, and are still Slade bashing, Tan hating etc etc, these muppets cant admit defeat and stand up and say "I was wrong".

Understandably, non season ticket holders having to shell out £35 a game is steep as hell and there are some people who genuinely want to be there game in game out but finances wont let them.

You can bet your bottom dollar there will be roughly the same amount of supporters at the Charlton game.

There are good reasons for the drop in attendance. The main one is Tan, no matter how you look at it there were plenty who said they were not willing to support tan as long as he is there, the second is £35 to watch a championship side is far to much for a country with the lowest wages on average in the UK and the highest unemployment in the UK. Greed is killing the game for the fans and it's worse in the lower leagues. nearly everyone's attendance is dropping and that trend will unfortunately continue as clubs greed effects the fans. It is a shame but football is no longer a cheap sport to follow anymore...
