Meh ... it's part of who we are. We're never going to keep them, my advice is to simply accept it, and move forward.
Puel got 8th and a Wembley final with a similar squad and without key players and a crippling fixture list for much of it.
Maybe this is a controversial view, but I am not convinced yet that Valery has been a 'revelation'. For me he's been a reasonably solid 6/10 player most games he's played; generally good defensive positions, gets into good attacking positions but then often looks ponderous on the ball, unsure whether to take the defender on or cut back and ends up often stopping completely. A wonder goal and a mis-hit aside, I've not seen anything more from him than e.g. Targett did on the left.
For the players you have listed? How do you move players on who are big contracts and do not want to be sliding down the leagues. That is a conundrum. Lemina Will go rather cheaply, maybe to a lower La Liga side. Carillo and Boufal likewise. You will be lucky to get a combined 5 million for that trio as La Liga sides will buy on their terms, or maybe do another cheap loan.
Wasn't there some other guy in between MP and Ralph? Or are we just pretending that didn't happen now.
I’m pretty confident if we stay up, we won’t lose any players Ralph wants to keep. He may cash in on Lemina, but everyone else has not done enough to earn a too good to turn down offer. I have a feeling a lot of players may well stay until Ralph goes. Then we may see a Pochettino style exodus when he does - something to look forward too.
We’ll never be a solid premier league team if we don’t build an infrastructure with new recruitment and scouting staff and a director of football. Having our status in the balance of “Will Ralph stay?” is flawed as he won’t stay forever, and instead we need to have staff in place who can oversee the selling of players for the highest prices (and only when we want to), replacing them with the best talent we can get, and to implement a style and culture in the club that is beyond one manager.
He's been an upgrade on how Cedric was this season, that's for sure...like you say Steve he is still a relative babe, he will be a much better player in a couple of years.
I agree, I love Maya and I think he's been a big part of our stability. I should have said I don't want to see him go or Lemina, but I think there's a strong possibility they will.
