    Records do count but you've asked if the 1-9 is worthy of mention given it was so long ago. We don't so you then ask if the league title is worthy of mention as it was from the past.

    A league title shows the best team in the league that season so that year the 1-9 occurred; overall, Newcastle were the best team in the league.

    A single league result from a season means nothing 100 years later un the bigger picture.

    Will Man City fans in 2111 hark back to beating Man Utd 6-1 even if Man Utd go onto win the title?

    So take away the two teams, if the best team in the country gets beaten at home to the tune of 1-9, you don't think that is note worthy? Surely the fact that it occured against the best team makes such a result all the more remarkable. In terms of deciding the league it obviously made no difference. However, due to the fact that such a score line hasn't been matched (for such a long time), it is worth remembering. The season might be meaningless but that doesn't mean every single game that season is meaningless as well.

    As for the Man City comparison, that very much depends on what they go on to achieve over those hundred years.

    yes records do count but like i said WE WON THE LEAGUE THAT YEAR and if you beat us 10-0 this year and we won the league do you honestly believe anyone apart from yourselves would give a stuff about that result

    I'm taking the piss mate. Like I say my problem is with those that brag about it like its relevant and that us winning 5 - 1 means nothing compared to it! It's like Boro fans that brag about getting to a final that they lost 4 - 0! You're more than entitled to be proud of your club's history.
