I don't think we'll be in the top six come the end of the season, unless we further improve the squad.

We've got a good starting XI, but we lack depth and we outplay teams without really punishing them.

In fact, the margin between winning, losing and drawing has been far too narrow in many of our games so far this season.

We're so close to have a great squad, I hope we take that final step in January to make sure we stay in the running.

I'm sure we will, especially if Aluko is missing for January

We always get excited about January, convinced we'll make some amazing signings and we always end up disappointed.

The fact is, if you believe the Proschwitz and Quinn rumours, we still haven't really spent big on a player in since Fryatt and McLean and we only got frees and loans last summer apart from Prossy, which seems to have been more of a statement by the owners than anything. I really hope this time we're serious about promotion instead of just talking about it, and we go and sign a quality player or two, but I'm not going to be surprised this time if we don't.

It's a fair view, but why the need to focus on 'Mcshane hasnt been a liability' when the focus should be on his solid performances.

That would be because people like to create pigeon holes for players that, once categorised, they feel uncomfortable altering.

Truth is that McShane is a much better player as one of a trio of centre backs and Chester is a much worse player. But people have already decided one can walk on water, one is the devil incarnate and changing that assessment is out of the question.

Personally speaking I dislike 352 for various reasons not least of which is the fact it has affected the form and contribution of James Chester.

Well I think Steve Bruce is doing the best he can with what he's got.
The 3-5-2 tactic suits the ability of our current players and let's be honest we have nobody in our current team who would 'cut the mustard' at EPL level.
Aluko is above average at this level but he would be lightweight in the EPL.
Koren is in the twilight of his career.
Simpson having a good season but nowhere near EPL level.
The "Esel aus Deutchland" needs to be sent back. He will never make it in the EPL or Championship.
Analysis: We have done well so far but have found our limitations against the better teams in this league.
Are we ready for the EPL? NO!
Most importantly, are the Allam's really intent of bringing EPL football back to Hull? Not this season in my opinion.
To make the 'push' next season we will need two strikers, a midfield General, a couple of tall capable defenders (come back Michael) and a proven Goalkeeper. Will we get them? If we do then you know that the Allam's are deadly serious but if not then we will continue to bob around the play-off mark.

Agree with most of that. I mentioned yesterday my concerns with 352 if we should get promoted.

I keep banging on about 4231 and people keep responding that they never want to go back to it, but in reality, with the players we would be able to afford, that formation is the only one that would allow us any chance of remaining in the Premiership should we gain promotion.

Not many of the promoted championship teams are ready for the EPL! Lets get promoted then worry about what players are good enough
