Like I said above Mr W, I'll take 33 One-Nil victories and brace myself for the boring-boring tag. It's certainly preferable to what we have endured of late
I think I'd have been happier if the goal came about because we worked for it as opposed to profiting from a throw that backfired. The ones we tried to work for sadly didn't happen.
oh we will be there with up to 5000 supporters, 3rd in the table, 4 wins in succession, having beaten derby away, and swansea at home, the lads in red at the emiroids hold no fears for the inform shrews. we fear no club but respect. our lads rise to the occasion so there may be a mountain to climb at the emiroids, but i have no doubt the shrews will do it. our 2 internationals jamie collins and tom bradshaw are back in action and in good form, jamie collins played for eire u21 in turkey and tom bradshaw played in montenegro for wales u21 and scored in the 2nd minute. so there you have it , arsenal are in unchartered waters and they will have to do a lot better to proceed in the cup, on this seasons showing. we are not confident but are already betting on who we will play in the 4th round! floreat salopia, come on you shrews, breathe on em shrews, amwythig am byth. catch us if you can ! finally i do hope you have some decent pies down there as man cannot live by flap jacks alone. finally we enjoyed our international break beating gillingham away
Hence the title of this thread, we used to be famous for 1-0 and boring football, right now, I'd take that everytime
What happened to ``at least we play entertaining football``wenger criticising smaller teams, but now you,ll take boring football. now you know how it feels to be ****.
Sort your head out you wierdo we dont care if you beat derby or swansea, we dont give a **** if your 2 50p internationals are back, or about your dyslexic english that you call welsh, and please don't breathe on me
The only thing that mattered was Arsenal getting the 3 points, absolutely nothing else. Had Graham scored that sitter in the last minute put it this way, the papers would not have made good reading come today. A win is a win. Important thing was you capitalised on Liverpool's loss. You'll need to do the same next weekend as I think Spurs will beat Liverpool
1. The defence still needs work. I thought both Mertesacker and Santos had good debuts but we have been caught short today and were very fortunate to take all three points against a debutant EPL side. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I didn't see Santos debut, when was that?
oh mrwright you will be wrongfooted on the 20.9.11. stick around dude, you and the arsenal might learn something. arsenal 1 shrews 3
Why the hate for Arteta? He did what he was signed to do. He created a couple of chances, which should have been scored. Not sure of Mertesacker though. His lack of pace will cause some problems.
I think it's just a case of early season over expectation. Hope we'll all warm to him as he has ( most certainly ) to us.
First - No need to insult the Welsh language at all. Now to the game. Gibbs had a shocker. He was beaten all ends up and absolutely tore a new one. Offensively he looked a bit better. This was partly due as usual to Arshavin not offering protection but in general he looked very very rusty. Frimpong gave away posession several times under little pressure. He broke up play well but his distribution needs work. He showed his age several times when in more advanced positions and panicked a bit. Mertesacker looked solid, but a bit shocked by the pace at times. Sagna was solid as usual, Koscielny OK. Chesney was good as usual (I like that it's now "as usual.") - he missed one cross at the end but all game was claiming and ordering and encouraging. Ramsey was OK, still finding his feet. Arteta looked good, faded, but good. With games and training minutes he'll improve and I'm happy with him. Theo had a couple of good moments - even showed a trick or two at times - but was largely guilty of making wrong decisions. Worst game I've seen him have for a while. Arshavin was a bit too anonymous too for me. RvP went looking for the ball, not his best game. Whole team looked short of confidence. Would have been a completely different game in my opinion if Ramsey had scored or played the ball to RvP in the 1st coupla minutes. Overall wasn't a bad performance. Wasn't great, needs to improve, but they saw out the end of the match pretty well (save for one chance from Swansea). Was good to see them running down time instead of losing the ball cheaply.
