I was under the impression that we had decided not to antagonise one another in the interest of both ourselves and the benefit of the board. I have stuck to my word......may I point out that this is the second time you have (in just a few days), tacitly had a dig at me......I’m most disappointed as you have reneged on your word. May I ask you once more to keep to your promise, if you aren’t going to, then I will simply cease posting here. You would appear to be looking for another spat......know your enemy!
Is it only Charlton life that you have dialogue on then ? I was interested in your take on Everitt’s latest bout of unacceptable behaviour, given that you have posted on the equivalent thread. Entirely your choice whether you post on here, not bothered either way mate.
To be honest, I missed the part where @Mr Sitter was called out. My blood was boiling first thing in the morning due to the nature of Ricks posts. If anything I thought the posts were more aimed towards me and my reaction (which I duly provided!). Can we leave the squabbles to me, and hopefully Rick when he responds to the Q about having a melt down about the freebies being revoked?
Sent Steve a message to say congratulations. Not expecting one back he sent on his thanks and discussed the fact he would be commuting rather than moving there. Don’t blame him. I sent a link of the CL thread to a couple of the guys I mentioned earlier. One remembers a few having their feathers ruffled when they were told it was a “All hands on deck” situation. A stonker of a story about an email too, but I’ll sit on that until my free beverages story is addressed. I was advised to not bother, but where’s the fun in that?
Life is too short to get embroiled in all the negative stuff, living your life, while you still have it is important. Recent events have made it more so. What Everitt has posted on CL is not right and it should never have been done, it smacks of bitterness. Waggott left Charlton .many years ago and this sort of stuff should be left in the past. I also don't think that the character assassination of Rick Everitt on here is right. Rick has no means of reply and some of the stuff has been vitriolic. This forum has become the over negative flip side to ITTVs super positivity. The character assassination on both Forums is very similar. I have been guilty in my comments on Reams and Williamson. I don't like either of them but I will not make comment on either of them in future. I think hatred breeds more hatred. I will only be commenting on Charlton in the future.
Appreciate your sentiments, DP, but I stand by anything I’ve said. I can’t stand by and let someone down play a man who played a role in where I’ve gotten to in life (Especially when it’s fiction). We’ll agree to disagree on this subject.
Everitt has dished our plenty of vitriol over the years, both in VOTV and on Charlton Life. He couldn’t resist another dig last night. He’s not half as nice as he looks. People defending him over there make me puke
This rings so true with how I have begun to feel, just in the last day or two. For a long time now, some of the things I have posted about other Charlton supporters on other forums have been too mean spirited and vindictive. Those posts have not given me any meaningful satisfaction even if I thought they would. Indeed they have only served to demean me as much if not more than those individuals I have sought to demean. Exchanging petty put-downs was not the reason I joined fans' forums. It does me no credit. Before all the modern commercialism, Christmas was a time for Good will. Perhaps the day is coming to take a break from sniping at each other across no-man's land, put down our rifles and climb out of the trenches. Maybe even kick a ball around in the mud for a bit and remember what we have in common. Charlton fans - whoever they may be - are, in spirit at least, my brothers and sisters. Not my enemies. Somewhere along the way I seem to have forgotten that. PS: Sorry about straying off-topic. I have nothing to contribute to the latest events regarding Rick Everitt and Steve Waggott - I don't know anywhere near enough about their pasts to add anything helpful.
The devil makes work for idle hands, as they say. Airman is probably the most influential poster on any Charlton forum, and with that comes responsibility. For the second time recently he has been irresponsible.
Disappointed that you show total disregard for a fellow posters expressed wishes on this matter. Fine have a pop at RE, who is big enough and ugly enough to defend his own shortcomings. But to disrespect a fellow Charlton fan because he views the situation differently from you through his experiences - and it would appear he does not have an axe to grind over RE, unlike you - is really unacceptable. Not sure what has been said on CL as I do not know who posts under what name there - I find all these different 'handles' on different forums very confusing.
Then again Dick, Steve Waggott has no means of replying to RE's comments on CL .... and.... as RE knows... it would be unproffesional if SW did go onto CL to reply anyway..... Waggott is between a rock and a hard place and has no option but to let the Airman's comments be accepted as truth by his followers. Super on here knows SW as a family friend and has (understandably) defended Steve against these unnecessary accusations of greed and incompetence.
Last I’ll say on it - those that sought to undermine Steve in his job have all stood still professionally. Had they focused more on themselves and been less worried about free booze and being caught sending ****ty emails about fellow staff members then they may well have been some career progression. Who knows?
It’s a forum in which Charlton fans who hold different views exchange those views. I have held the view for over 20 years (before S. Waggott incident) that Everitt is a pain in the arse who holds Charlton causes back. Witness the megaphone and “I will make Charlton unmanageable”. MrSitter defends RE, so I can’t really see the issue TBH. Basically I have got to respect for people who blindly follow RE.
Seems to me you have no respect for quite a few fellow Charlton fans, so much so, that at least two other forums have decided you are no longer welcome on them. I mean, how can you just ignore a polite request from a fellow poster on here because he has supported RE in some of his views? He's not blindly following him. I doubt many people do.
First of all, said poster came onto this site and openly started posting pro-Everitt stuff. When he got a bit back he didn’t like it. Everitt then went and started one of the ugliest ever bullying threads on CL about Waggott. The same poster - who posts on CL - posted a typically wet reply on that thread. I asked said poster what he thought of Everitt’s latest bullying thread. I can’t see the problem really? As for you calling me out for being banned from the two other sites - - not sure where you have been, but isn’t being banned from Paul May’s site a badge of honour ?? Ask @DonCorleone or @baraettmattesvensson or @DickPlumb or @lardiman or @Jam Bonce or @Inkblot
