Mr Sitter is going to resurface during this spat. Give Everitt some credit ffs. He cannot be right all the time(for you he is wrong all the time), he is only as good as the info he gets fed BUT he has a lot of contacts and people more close to the club than you and I. He is on our side for crying out loud.
He was in 1990/1991 and we should all be grateful but is he on his own side now? To me he seems to peddle hearsay as facts and then sells them to loyal fans.
Alan Davies is rattling the collection tins over on Wally Life. With a new consignment of plastic toys needing to be ordered for Easter Monday, the highly secretive & unaccountable Everitt fanclub have revealed that they only have £4,000 left in the kitty They have got a bloody cheek asking for another penny, go forth and multiply CARD.
Good of you to post the details over here Royston I'll have a think about it. Bear in mind that they are only asking fans to contribute. I had little idea that organising protests was so expensive, but I guess the placards and stickers and flyers don't print themselves. Up the Protests! Down with RD
The thread on Wally Life is hilarious ....it’s descended into a girly spat between the Usual Suspects over who is harder ...CARD or WAR or ROT or the B20. Only at Charlton
If throwing things onto the pitch is still on the agenda I wonder whether they might consider butt plugs. That would certainly get the attention of the press. But I guess it would be regarded as a bit too risque for a protest movement that wishes to retain a family friendly image. Seriously though, I do hope the 'throwing things' phase is one that CARD have now grown out of. Let's have some proper protests again.
Like thousands of fans marching on the stadium before the game (but most not going inside), or a mass car park gathering straight after a match. I guess gimmicks and megaphones will inevitably accompany these things, but the CARD leaders like RE need to think carefully about what they say, not just get over-excited by the moment. If either of these types of demonstration was announced far enough in advance I think many boycotters would come to swell the demonstration ranks. I certainly would. Big banners and protest chanting during the match inside the ground is something I'm less keen on personally, but it has come to a point where fans must express how they feel in a way that cannot be mistaken. I don't want to see match disruption (throwing things or pitch invasions) but mass verbal protesting from the stands is not dangerous and this is a country where we have a right to free speech. A call for an all-out home attendance boycott and a boycott of future ST purchases. There must be other legal methods that protesters from Clubs like Blackburn, Coventry and Blackpool have employed in recent years. These should be looked into and copied if possible. We need to show that many of us are still angry, that apathy has not overwhelmed us. If we cannot do that then the harm RD has done is already worse than many of us fear.
Perhaps @baraettmattesvensson could waddle onto the pitch, and set fire to his slug green coat in the centre circle?
I agree that boycotting is the only form of protest that has had a serious effect, but for me it's too depressing to believe that any other kind of protest event is not worth the effort. Protesting is not like a business transaction, where you get a quantifiable or a guaranteed return for your investment. Many protests about all kinds of issues are carried out even though there is no chance that the protest itself will make a difference. The people, companies or regimes that behave in unjust ways which anger people need to be sent a message that their actions are unacceptable. Duchatelet needs to be sent that message again and again. Hundreds more times if necessary, and at every opportunity, until he stops damaging Charlton Athletic and goes away. Giving up on protests is letting him off the hook, allowing him the peace and quiet he wants so he can forget what a bastard he has been. He should not be allowed to forget, not even for one day, between now and when he finally sells the Club.
I would not disagree with any of the above. However, Duchatelet being out of the country has been detached from all that has gone on. That has made it easier for him to deal with. I am just worn out with the protests now. To stop going to the games is my answer.
Footnote. Look at the damage done by the Oystons at Blackpool. They are still there. The fans get shafted every time.
Tangerino tells us on another thread that attendances there have dropped to a real figure of about 1500. And the Oystons still can't let go.
RE has posted that he has been told our actual attendance on Saturday was “more than 5000 but less than 6000”
