Post the rest of the midfield and post the stats for the NPC. http://blog.squawka.com/2013/05/03/...038580/adel-taarabt-chance-creation-zone#main At one point last season, Taarabt was second in the league in chances created, its not his fault there were a bunch on donkeys shooting into the upper tier.
But it doesnât mean you completely disregard something that he was capable of doing 2 years ago. Heâs still about 4 or 5 years away from peaking and itâs not as if he hasnât shown that ability at all over the last two years. Also see Flyers post. Half way through the year Adel was second only to Suarez in chances created, which is extremely impressive by any standards but most of all in a side as bad as the one he was playing in. The shots of target stat is misleading. How many of those shots were from inside the box? Been done to death on here the reasons for his underperforming and everyone must acknowledge that not all of these reasons are his own fault. Letâs finally go back to our championship system and I believe with a settled side we have every chance of seeing that old form on a consistent basis again. Still waiting for that viable alternative for 19 goals and 15 assists at £4.8m or less. Very easy to point out problems but for the moaners on here they seem to find it more difficult to offer genuine solutions.
Yes. Cant afford to sell him IF he will play like he did 2010-2011. If he wont play like he did then he is just burden to us. Adel Taarabt is just a great championship player because there his silky skills are too much for many defenders and goalscoring ability is lethal. In premier league there are skilful defenders enough to prevent him to do the same and he get frustated.
i'm in 2 minds, i want to believe that he will be the Adel that lit up the championship 2 years ago ripping the division to bits or will we have the spoilt stroppy over weight lazy sod that we saw for most of the season, i say keep him and hope its not the latter.
I just posted the stats. He probably is the best of the bunch. Agree with the blog you posted, may be in his best interest to move on, but not to UAE. The expectation surrounding him when he plays/ comes on, including from myself, is now ridiculously high, and the sense of disappointment when he doesn't quite deliver equally exaggerated. If he's really as good as he/we think (as he was against Fulham at home)he needs to do it consistently and I can't see how he will do this in our current team, or whether Harold will give him the chance next year, with new colleagues. Ligue 1 for him.
To me, he is part of the collective that were happy to take the money and put in fook all effort (there are exceptions to my generic statement). I say unless Harry can get in better then keep him
No mate, UI haven't missed that at all. I totally agree with it, but i also think he would have been a no-one (as he was when he turned up) if he didnt have a "adequate" midfield behind him & to supply him. I seem to remember that he did lose the ball a bit and Derry, Ali and co just got it back and gave it to him? He was never gonna do that part of the game. He was amazing in the NPC; couldn't step up and now, has to decide if he wants the hero worship again, or , if he's to good for us. Personally i think HR has made that decision already !
We all know how good he was in the championship, but he hasn't made the step up as a shining star in the Premiership. Realistically for Taarabt, he won't want to go back to the Championship where he knows he can run rings around everyone. Far more of a challenge to look abroad at foreign leagues which are not as high a standard as the Premiership. Also, the 40% sell on clause isn't going away is it, so we can't worry to much about that. Lesson learnt and don't offer such short sighted transfer clauses in the future.
he was always the danger player back when our teams were both heading up. Suspect he'd be just as good again next season. His ability could quite easily give you the promotion advantage and therefore a lot more than 8m in earnings... Then you've got the issue of whether to keep him for another PL season.
when he is on the pitch next season it will take two defenders to cover him(and sometimes that wont be enough) leaving plenty of space for other attacking players we should be more worried about the other so called attacking players
Racking my brains to think of other players who were world beaters (and club legends) in lower leagues but never cut it/ or had the opportunity in the top league. So far got: Robin Friday Lee Trundle Any ideas?
Rufus, sir Les, Andy Sinton, Oh hold on they all cut it..that makes them better than...........!! Seriously. I think he will (most) "probably" give us the advantage over other teams, if he can be bothered, and wants to be with us, and wants to try and wants.... But, do we make the same mistake by doing the 1 superstar and 10 support acts again?...cause that didn't turn out to good...or..do we build a TEAM..? Personally know what Id prefer just by looking at Swansea, Norwich etc but TBH..you guys are the one who pay your tickets. its up to you to vote with your feet I guess !! So if we're crap again next season (which seems quite likely ATM) then I'll just blame the fans. Works for the players and management !..
Doesn't seem to be a secret that Harry and him have some issues. If he wants special treatment ie doesn't have to turn up to training on time, hit his weight targets etc then he'll be spending the year on the bench. People talk about the divided in the dressing room, having players treated differently doesn't help, or is it suggested that he is an exception to the rule ? He was magnificent in the championship and probably will be again but if it can't be sort behind the scenes then 8M is a very good offer, you should never build a team around one player IMO.
Wow, even I thought his stats would be better than that .............................. OK, consider him, SOLD! ( even with a 40% sell on fee to spuds, we should be able to buy a top Championship player for that )
Keep, keep, keep. Any one else make you sit forward when they get the ball? Anyone else raise your pulse a few notches? Yes he's a flawed genious, but he's our flawed genious(and we've had a few).
It all depends on his attitude, if its right then there isn't a better champ player, if its wrong i wouldn't want in my Sunday league team (Not that I have one)
