amazing how superswan can be so critical.. sounds as if he's just looking for any reason to criticize!
Dai you clearly don't know what's going on inside the club but yetyou persist in spouting this tripe re Jenkins. Give it a rest! Soemone told me we were going to be reporting losses which we have and a lot of it was down to bonuses and upgrading the squad so we wouldn't have made a loss like that if we hadn't been promoted Shaper. I was also told that we are well on course to more than make it back. All worth it, and down to the good management at the club, from Jenkins, to the rest of the directors to the playing staff and coaching staff.
It's obvious now that Beattie wasn't worth £800K, but that's easy to say with hindsight. Many on here have slagged off lots of players that turned out to be great. No-one is capable of only buying great players all the time. Some players will always turn out to have not been worth the money. That's just the way it is and the way it will always be. It's pointless going on about.
Some of us where banging on about how crap these players were, before they had kicked a ball for us, and in particular Beattie we were warned by the Baggies how rubbish he would be, and that was before we had purchased the donkey, as for Pantstado, well how the hell any manager could stick with him all season, when it was clear he couldn't hit the proverbial barn door with a banjo is beyond belief, at the end of the day I'm glad the pair of donkeys are no longer with us, just thought I'd add some balance as it wasn't hindsight from some of us!................... PS: By the way Casual, some of us didn't want Lita either, some of us new that he would also be a wast of money, now it seems he's in the transfer dealings out of the club!! makes you think aye.....................
Sorry but it was obvious back then too !! his whole playing history told everyone he was very very injury prone. wtf!! WBA fans said the same,we stole him from palace at the last minute and it turned out to be a massive waste of money and was always going to be a waste of money considering his injury record. Nothing personal to the player,he wasnt going to turn down and extra 2k a week on what he would have got at palace, but whoever<coughs jenks> decided that deal needed his head testing Pintado was worth £7m quid so he was a fantastic investment...apparently
The £800k spent on Beattie was not within the reported financial year that we're talking about. He was bought in 2009. However, the money in wages that we spent on him were clearly a waste of money. When he was on the pitch, he actually did OK for us I feel. The main problem was keeping him fit for anything more than 3 games at a time. As for Pintado, we bought him for barely anything, probably had him on reasonable wages, so it wasn't really a financial cock up but more of a managerial mistake.
Spot on. Dai has also recently been posting that Rodgers is getting the starting 11 wrong. I have invited him to enlighten us with his preferred team but he responded with "It's not my job to pick the team". He gives crazy people a bad name, that guy.
Why are you going over old ground re Beattie and Pintado? Easy to have hindsight isn't it? You can't expect the Board/Chairman/Manager/Players to get everything right all of the time. Thankfully, they've got a hell of a lot more right than wrong and that's why we are where we are. Shame certain individuals seize upon the negative all the time.
Im talking about the add ons more than anything bigkidderz, wages are a factor also but overall 8.2m quid im happy with, considering the up turn in revenue and the fact player assets arnt even taken into consideration. Pintado was a £7m pound player mun !!
Say what you want about Pintado's record, but his tackle on Robbie Savage was PRICELESS. For that alone.... respect to The Bull!
Well how come you aren't a Premiership manager or senior scout if you're so good at spotting good and bad players. Surely loads of clubs would be happy to pay for such a wonderful talent as yours. Really.
Well said. Lita has actually done very well when he's come on. Agustien was said to be 'nothing special' by Norway when the rest of us were singing his praises, and Phil's 'Brenda the Tea Lady' jibe is the stuff of legend so the track record's not good with those spouting 'we said' this or that is it?
Yeah Kemy was so special LAST SEASON that brenden packed him off to Palace I have sung his praises THIS SEASON because he has performed well, if he was awesome last season he would nt have ended up on loan would he? so i stick by what i said 100%, he was nothing special last season, which was the time i said that remark and Brenden rodgers obviously thought the same Who are the rest of you anyway? oh, i know... Hit the road Aussie jack Knackered twat Tried to hide and got found out each time eh ?
Oh, look. got a tiddler. No need to be so abusive my Nordic friend. No need at all. Er....how did I try to hide? Don't get that one, sorry. The fact that Rodgers saw fit to send him out on loan only tells us that he didn't feel he was ready, or that maybe his head wasn't right; possibly his attitude. Doesn't mean he lacked ability - most of us who actually saw him play knew that wasn't the case anyway. Good players, even special players often go out on loan (Sturridge, Lampard, the list goes on) but that doesn't mean they're bad players does it? You stated that Agustien was 'nothing special'; you were the only poster I can think of who said so; most of us who saw him play said the opposite and questioned the decision to send him out. All that's very well - I can't think of anyone who has said something on here that hasn't turned out to be way off the mark. Me included. But it kind of puts you and Phill's "I said this and I said that" posts into perspective, doesn't it? We all get it wrong sometimes, but some have the balls to admit it. Others wriggle. Casual's post above is spot on.
