This is obviously a bit of a stretch, however if all this came to pass then I would be ****ing delighted.
We will have the time DL, 38 games. We may have to accept this season as the start of a new era; almost like a first season after promotion, but slightly better.
looks like the two CBs are going elsewhere but I do think we'll need 8 new players for a competitive squad. This is assuming disaster strikes and we lose Dejan & Morgan, but the OPs budget increases by about £40m
Saintly hero - We needed at least four new players to add to last years squad (GK, CB, WM and ST) so we need to replace those who are leaving and the four needed from last year. Way things are looking eight new players will be just replacements
Juan cuadrado. I think he would be very keen to come to us. Naturally he would turn down Barcelona and bayern...
Hmm, true...A Quick Head Count/Audit 25 Man Squad GK - Boruc GK - Gazzaniga GK - Davies RB - Clyne RB - Chambers LB - LB - Targett CB - Lovren CB - Fonte CB - Yoshida CB - Hooiveld CM - Schneiderlin CM - Cork CM - Wanyama CM - Ward-Prowse CM - Reed CM - Davis AM - Ramirez AM - McQueen AM - AM - ST - Gallagher ST - Rodriguez ST - Mayuka ST - We have five open positions(i promoted McQueen & Targett), two players linked with moves away. One we maybe tempted to cash in on and three we would want to improve upon. Osvaldo is dead to me You could argue for as much as 11 new players Edit (Forgot Mayuka)
I would like Ramirez to stay and I think he will. Can't afford to let him go, think he will get a lot more game time this season.
Reading through this thread is not pleasing to me. I think we've got the right idea with defenders, but people's ideas for good signings in midfield and attack are largely crap! Desperately hoping the board has more ambition than this.
Marshall, Leckie, Caulker, Pelle, Borini - I know its not realistic (or covering all positions) but this would be a good list of replacements and most likely wouldn't amount to more that 40m combined.
What's the score with Nathan Redmond of Norwich. Only 20, had a decent season in the premier league last year and was very impressed when I saw him score a hatrick for England u21s a few months back. Seems to fit the old Southampton mould, young, English, someone we could sell on for a profit when he wants champions league football in a couple of seasons. Seems wasted in the championship, any guesses on current price?
I think a lot of players do. Raheem sterling, for one, seems to be the darling of the press at the moment but losses possession too much for me. I think we could bring on Redmond quite a bit.
Yeah I've never thought he was that great, but he had a really good game against us so that might be why quite a lot of Saints fans are so keen on him.
