Most are Youth players, so pretty much anything we get from them will be profit.
Those that arent only cost a couple of million, so I think a profit is guaranteed.
The conundrum is picking which of the players that wont be good enough and flogging the right ones.
There is little worse than selling a player you do not rate, only for him to become awesome and come back to haunt you.
Just like West Ham with Lampard, Chelsea with Le Saux and Matic (Though we bought both back eventually, at hugley inflated prices), Man Utd with Pogba etc.

Love the fact that West Ham fans abused Lampard for years whilst he was a West Ham player and said he was fat and the only reason he played was because his uncle (Harry) was manager and his dad was a coach. Then Lampard hit his peak in 2005 and was regarded as one of the best midfielders on the planet and has since won numerous league titles and European trophies. :)

You may well be right, but I reckon a lot of people were saying the same about the Bosman ruling back in the late 90s. Then Campbell used it for a big money move and now clubs will do pretty much anything to avoid players running down their contracts.

All it needs is for UEFA to actually enforce the rule for one or two clubs and all the others will fall into line. Ultimately that's been the main impact thus far - Chelsea have been cutting spending and selling more players ever since FFP was proposed. Doubt they'd have even considered selling us Mata if they weren't under some pressure to sort the books out - they could easily have forced him back to Spain for £10-15m less. Even City cut back a fair bit last season and tried to buy younger players, although they did revert to type after their poor showing last year.

The key question is of course whether UEFA will actually enforce it, or whether it will just be a series of 'investigations' and warnings.

Thread is misleading tho - nowhere in the Fail article does it say Chelsea will be investigated.

    taken from the daily fail
Chelsea made a £49.4million loss last year but actually made a £1.4million profit in 2012 so may escape any action

They will be looked at, but will get away with it, as they are sorting themselves out

Well stone the crows. Chavs made a loss almost every year since RA took over but because they made a whopping 1.4m profit in 2012 they are OK <laugh>

UEFA are having a f**king laugh, FFP = Keep rich clubs rich keep poor clubs poor.

The key question is whether UEFA will be allowed to enforce it......

Say for example Barca failed the FFP criteria, does anyone think for 1 minute that they'd be banned from the CL? No, of course they wouldn't, as UEFA's CL sponsors simply wouldn't have it. You can't have the best club competition on the planet without the best teams, containing the best players, taking part. Any enforcement of the threat of a ban, that was aimed at the top clubs in Europe would be nothing more than a hollow threat, that they'd never follow through with. Watch it unfold....

You will find the big boys will get away with it but ££££ and PSG will be hit hard, to warn everyone else.

City are one of the big boys now, look at their squad mate. They might hit some minnow like Liverpool if they transgressed, but the big clubs will be immune from the ultimate sanction.

    Indirect wumming Les?

A minnow? Yet you think we will win the league as you said in another thread - that's impressive for a minnow, competing with all these 'big boys/clubs'.

Punching above your weight mate, I mean big clubs win their domestic league, a feat you've not managed for nearly a quarter of a century.....and despite doing well this season, you'll ultimately fall short due to your brittle back line.....

Do you think UEFA will penalise PSG and Monaco with Platini at the helm?

    Will they ****.

This will be a lame knuckle rapping exercise and nothing more. I heard something today that 1 in 3 clubs will not comply. There's no way they will ban that amount of clubs from European competition and have all their sponsors drop out, not a chance.

They'll deal with it like they deal with racism. Do **** all.

I know we'll fall short, but you did say you thought we would win it.

Obviously it's possible, but highly unlikely. If we get 3rd I'll be buzzin, even 4th is major step in the right direction. Our ownership/management goal was to get 4th next season, so it's all looking quite good.

Hopefully Sakho come come in and steady the ship at the back for the last few games <ok>

Anyway on topic - like f**k will we be done by FFP before any of the blatant money hungry cash clubs.

When Monaco get back in Europe, they seriously need to be looked at with their gates of about 3k!!

Monaco must be every other teams 'canary down the mine', as long as they get away with it....
