Led to believe we might know more on Thursday. There's something happening in London involving Ashley/Barnes.

If it weren't going to happen as in the talks have broken down I think we'd hear about it. So the fact that that hasn't happened leads me to think it is very much still on the cards.
Thought that but I couldn't see Staveley coming out to say, nor her wealthy backers. Would probably only hear it from Charnley/Ashley, and we can expect confirmation from them in another 3 years at the rate they speak to the media.

I put this on the Jan transfer thread. In a nutshell, I think we're playing games with an abacus and we just can't unbalance the wages. That, plus the utter incompetence of Lee Charnley. Read an interesting bit on wages. Did anyone know that there is, in effect, a wage cap? But it was designed in such a way that it protected the league's big spenders around the 2012 season, meaning whatever you were spending at that moment in time was your yardstick for the future, i.e. Man City were already spending £200m a year, we by contrast were spending £60m. Subsequently you could increase your spending by about £20m, but City were already fcking miles away. Same with Chelsea, Man U, Spurs, Liverpool. Everybody else is apparently hamstrung by this ruling; so we're stuck with a wage bill we can't increase by much. You can add commercial revenue as a source of income to support hikes in wages, which is why Chelsea/Gazprom and Man C/Etihad have these fcking insane commercial agreements. However, for a tin pot arsehole like Ashley as our sponsor, we're adding effectively NOTHING to the bottom line, which is in turn one of the key reasons we can't invest in players. All this **** Ashley spunks on about us not paying interest on the loan being the equivalent of his SD advertising is utter, utter horseshit. By NOT paying £10-15m a year - which is what he gets for free - we are hampering our ability to add 4 or 5 more players to the squad. THIS is why we have a glorified bean counter in charge - Charnley - and THIS is why every window is a ****ing shambles. All a bit of a revelation to me. Sorry if you all already knew!! In addition, Simon Bird is on the Chron website. He claims - and we'll go with it, he's a decent journo - that there's basically nobody signing off on the deals. This came out at Lunch today so unless it's been decided in the last few hours to pul lthe plug I'd hope ashley coming back is to rubber stamp everything and **** off

Mate, there's a rumour Staveley flew to Newcastle this morning on the 12:02 from Dubai, claims she got into a black car at 12:40pm. People are creating rumours that Pete Graves knows more than he's letting on (he doesn't!). Some idiot claimed there was a meeting with Ashley/Barnes tomorrow. Oh, wait.... George Caulkin/Mark Douglas have been "tweeting" that funds depend on the deal being done, but that it's not final...yet.
