I don't get this comment. For the umpteenth time, fatty has never invested, only when we got relegated. There's no blag, because it's exactly the same as every other window he/Charnley have stood over. He's never put anything up from his own pocket, ever. There's nothing new this Jan. We may have around £30-40m from the Sissoko payments, some Summer business and a Sky down payment. But, as we see, £30-40m buys you one decent player. We need about 5 decent players, hence there's just no point in buying anyone and we just borrow whoever we can to survive.
Honestly, i don't think he gives enough of a **** to laugh at us. We mean absolutely nothing. He wants his money back, asap, that's it. Doesn't care how, or to whom, just as long as it's yesterday. The share thing might be coincidence, it might not. It just looks like he has asked the courts for the right to buy back an absolutely massive amount of shares for roughly the same price as he hopes to sell NUFC for. He doesn't have £300m in a bank to spend on shares. In the same week he did this, Amanda Staveley founded a holding company - now we may again say it's nowt to do with it, but look at our beloved Mike Ashley: on the 21st May 2007 he founded "ST JAMES HOLDINGS LIMITED (06254688)". Two days later, he bought the club.
I've not read anything by that lad but why is SD buying back shares meant to be in anyway related to NUFC being bought? I have taken the headlines to be SD buying these shares (out of cash at bank presumably) and not Mike Ashley buying them personally? Complete red herring. Like I have said a few times before, if it were me, I'd not invest the money now with the knowledge we could be relegated and I instantly lose two thirds of the money I just invested. I'd wait to see us stay up and then pay Mike Ashley the £300m or whatever it is he wants. Rebuild properly in the summer window. I don't see a great deal of benefit to buying now other than if there were other interested parties bidding and they were more or less forced to pay up now to get the club. As far as we know nobody else is interested.
But that wouldn't be a buy back by SD. That would be Mike Ashley as a director buying shares and that would have to be announced on the stock market when it actually happened. SD are talking about buying back shares, not one of it's directors/existing share owners. Mike Ashley is not SD so money he makes from selling another one of his businesses is not going to be given to SD to buy shares. If he wanted to use that capital to buy shares it would be him increasing his own 58% (or whatever it is) share in the business. Hence I don't quite see the link that the young lad is trying to make.
I tend to agree with what your saying unless he is personally investing the money into sports direct to dilute the shares in circulation. This effectively would increase his share percentage not his shareholding. He would be loaning the money to sports direct to then do the purchase of own shares. I’m sure there are tax advantages for the people disposing the shares via this route as opposed to paying dividends and is a better exit strategy for them too. I still wonder if they are linked though.
The only reason I can see how he can get that money into the firm (SD) is if he loaned SD the cash and then arranged a loan arrangement between SD and himself. I think that I am glad that I got rid of my SD shares about three years ago because this sort of debt wouldn't be to my liking and we can only guess at the loan arrangements made.
So we're just sat waiting on Mike to make Fatter stacks? And for that we will have our entire window ruined? Suppose its no different to every other window in the prem under Mike, plus there's the added bonus he might leave.
Can't comment until I've lightly fried the hearts of all three. Which I intend to do should this takeover not happen.
I'm not too sure on the sincerity of our would-be buyers. If they want to spend a lot of money on buying the club and then again to buy players, why do they seem to be dragging their heels? They had time to buy the club and new players in order to steer us to safety. Then major rebuilding could have been started in the summer. I know its a lot of money to us what they are quibbling over but maybe not so in the greater scheme of things? Maybe they don't have as much financial clout as we may think?
We're owned by a ****, and the club is run by an even bigger **** (imo) in Charnley. Neither are doing a ****ing thing about this club's survival. Baldy's going through the motions, Fatty hasn't been seen for months and months. There's no pursuit of players, no signings. There's no activity at all, the manager is playing it coy, everyone is guessing but there's more than enough breadcrumbs to suggest something big is happening. The bald twat has even allowed Beardo back to work with the very kids he's accused of bullying; could purely be he's an inept idiot, but it could be he just doesn't give a toss anymore. If this is genuinely where we are now, with no budget, a mystified manager, no players coming in, no sign of an owner and the Chief Executwat being his usual, pointless self, then we're genuinely, totally and utterly ****ed. If I don't believe that a takeover is all but done, I'll have a meltdown. I'm gonna stick by what I was told, and this deal has already been done. There is no discrepancy over £50m, because the price has already been agreed. At a push, maybe there is a £50m divide, but maybe it's linked to relegation.
