I was born at home, Hylton Terrace, North Shields. Funnily enough l was also in the 8th Signals Regiment at Catterick Garrison. Small world eh?
So now we have to prove our Geordie Credentials to post on here I think I may have to stand down as Moderator. I was born in St Annes, near Blackpool but moved to Lancaster when I was 2 (parents have been looking for me ever since). Lived in Lancaster until I was 16 then moved to York. Did my Undergraduate Degree at Reading and then did a 1 year Masters at Newcastle. Then have lived in Llandudno for 4 years, Houston for 1 year, Lima, Peru for 3 years, Jakarta, Indonesia for 29years. When I am in UK I stay in Manchester, where we have a house. Have always followed the local football teams where ever I lived so it was Lancaster City and then York City and then Newcastle United when I was there. So only one year going to nearly all the home games. But hey, like love, you never know when the football team will come along that you just can't forget and so have been supporting Newcastle ever since. So my Newcastle United Supporter Credentials: 1) Was I born there? No 2) Have I supported them since birth? No 3) Do I get to all the games? No 4) Have I punched a horse? No On a plus note: 1) I do experience elation when they win and more often depression when they lose. 2) I am a member so I can get tickets when I am there. 3) I have both a home and away shirt that my Mrs ridicules me for wearing. 4) I have drunk in the Earl with ACS, Trev, Heed and even had a rare sighting of the lesser spotted Nev. So I may not be a "true" Geordie, but the good thing about supporting Newcastle is that you can never be classed as being a plastic, glory-hunter (unless the other choice was supporting Sunderland). Started watching them in 1980-81 season so no way can you accuse me of latching on to them during The Glory Years! Just fell in love with the atmosphere in the ground (and the smell of piss cascading down The Gallowgate End). Love going back to watch now despite the abuse I get from the wife and kids who are all Man Utd supporters. So whether Ashley sells or not, we win the League or get relegated to Division 2 I know I won't be changing my allegiance any time soon (ala Chippy). Set for life now.
Why do you have a tattoo of Franny Lee on one arse cheek then and the words blue moon across the other? Living in jakarta is no excuse for not going to every home game. If I was in jakarta I’d be getting through several hundred cans on the drive into Newcastle each weekend.
Holy **** if we're going on these credentials I'm no fan at all. Born in Halifax, moved to Portsmouth at 19 for uni, came back home a couple of years ago. The families from the area, father's a Newcastle fan who broke the mould from a family of Sunland fans. To be fair to me nan she supports NE in general (how is beyond me) I started fully knowing what the **** was going on in football in the 1998 season under Dalglish, talk about missing out. Had the Keegan years season reviews on tape and, understandably, they got played pretty ****ing continuously. I came from an area where everyone was manure fans turned Leeds fans overnight in the O'Leary years. Both teams were closer to me but never got how that happens, once a teams in ya blood it isn't ****ing coming out. Not even a decade of Ashley could do that.
For those who don't know my confessional.... erm I mean story. Born in Bridlington into a Mackem Family from Ferryhill. Dragged to joker park as a toddler up the coast road to watch their slide into division 3. My Dad used to bribe me with a cowboy meal as I was a bit of a fat kid, not the chiseled Adonis most see now. The more I think about it he was a bit like the kiddie catcher out of chitty chitty bang bang with those manky chips covered in gravy..... My dad then 'revealed' that he had a cousin in the NUFC youth team called Paul Stephenson. Paul sent me a load of signed stuff around 83 or 84 then when I met him up in Walker later he was with his fellow youth players Ian Bogie and Paul Gascoigne and let's say.. .they roughed me up.. I mean persuaded me to step from the darkness into the light. From that moment I was hooked. So I've been supporting the Toon since around that time when I was something like 10 or 11 and have seen a hell of a lot more bad times than good times. I've had a ST for about 10 years and go to between 5-10 away games a season drinking lots of cans along the way. I think my passion for taking the piss out of mackems stems from the mental trauma I suffered at the hands of my cruel Mackem dad.
Your Honour I say to you that the defendants testimony is nothing but a fabrication of lies burn him I say, Burn him
Cease your accusations or you will find a present in your seat (other than the free flags we will get) on Saturday. By present... I mean something in keeping with my mackem birth.... a Yule log....

Born at Princess Mary's on Great North Rd. Never lived in Newcastle or the surrounding areas though as we moved to Northumberland when I was young.
Canadian. Never thought of soccer as a proper sport until 2000 or so. Started watching NUFC as a civic duty, but then there was Sir Bobby and trips to Milan. By the time the wheels fell off, I was hooked.
